Wednesday
1st February
DYNAMIC IDOL ran his best race yet to
finish 3rd to Paul Nichols' triumph hurdle hope Dildar at Taunton
yesterday. He was happier on the good to soft ground but jockey
Josh Moore predicts even better on quicker ground. He has shown
that he has a real future hurdling and we're looking forward to his
next outing. Incidentally, he was the second of our horses to be
placed at a big price this week, FRUITY O'ROONEY returned at 22-1
on Saturday, and DYNAMIC IDOL returned at
50-1!
The British Horseracing Authority has
today put on an extra all weather card at Wolverhampton on Saturday
with all of the jumping under the threat of freezing. Joe Tuite has
entered RED YARN in the mile handicap.

Monday 30th
January
Everyone is talking about FRUITY
O'ROONEY's dramatic 3rd place in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on
Saturday! Once again he surpassed all expectations to finish 3rd at
22-1 despite finishing with his saddle on his hind quarters and
Jamie Moore riding bareback. Jamie was distraught because he felt
he had a chance of winning but we are just delighted to see such a
fantastic performance again from our horse. There is a great photo
on the Fruity O'Rooney page.
DYNAMIC IDOL has been declared at
Taunton tomorrow - the ground is good to soft, soft in places but
Taunton doesn't get too heavy and hopefully this ground will be
better than he has met so far. Josh Moore will
ride.
We had a fantastic day at Fontwell on
Friday - 90 owners and guests joined us for hospitality in a
fantastic suite in the new grandstand. The food was lovely, the
racing was competitive and we all had a great
time.

Thursday
26th January
FRUITY O'ROONEY has been declared for
the £75,000 Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on Saturday. It is a huge
race and the horse is running off a career high mark of 140 but he
seems to be getting better and better and he is in great form.
TOBAGO BAY is also expected to go to Doncaster for the 2 mile 3 1/2
furlong handicap hurdle on the same
card.
DYNAMIC IDOL was entered at
Huntingdon tomorrow but will not go, the ground is soft and we are
looking for better ground. He is entered at Taunton on Tuesday and
the ground there is good to soft, with dry weather
forecast.
RED YARN is fine after a hold up last
week and Joe Tuite is looking for another race for her. A stable
visit to Joe's to see the KHELEYF 2 year old went well on Saturday
and she will be named this week.
|
|
Friday 20th
January
RED YARN was
due to go to Lingfield today but she was slightly lame yesterday
morning. It is improving already and she should be out again soon.
TOBAGO BAY has not been declared for Wincanton tomorrow because the
ground is fairly testing and over 2 miles 6 furlongs the horse will
need a sounder surface. Gary has his eye on a race at Huntingdon on
9th February. DYNAMIC IDOL missed his intended race at
Lingfield yesterday for the same reason. He will be out as
soon as we get some better ground.
Our next
owner event (following Fontwell's raceday hospitality next Friday)
will be 'A Evening with the Handicapper' at Mannings Heath Golf
Club next to Gary Moore's Cisswood Stables on Tuesday 6th
March.
Dominic Gardner-Hill the head handicapper
in the UK will be present to answer all your questions on how the
handicapping system works and any specific questions regarding
horse's ratings. Race commentator Simon Holt will be the chairman.
This event is exclusive to clients and guests of Heart Of The
South. Gary Moore will be opening his yard beforehand for any
owners that would like to visit their
horses.
Tickets are only £15 and will include
refreshments. All proceeds will go to Moorecroft Racehorse Welfare
& Sussex Air Ambulance. Interest is high so call now to reserve
your place!

Tuesday 17th
January
DYNAMIC
IDOL, FRUITY O'ROONEY and SHAMAHAN all looked very well on the
gallops on Saturday morning. It was a beautiful bright
morning but it was absolutely freezing! Thats what winter
racing is all about though, and all of the owners who came had a
lovely morning. GOOD LUCK CHARM is only walking and trotting, but
he looks amazing.
Gary would
like to send DYNAMIC IDOL to Lingfield on Thursday if the meeting
goes ahead - the course is currently frozen. RED YARN is entered on
the all weather at Lingfield on Friday, Joe will decide today
whether to declare her tomorrow. She was disappointing last time
but has seemed well since.
TOBAGO BAY
has been entered at Wincanton on Saturday - again Gary would like
to send him if the meeting goes ahead. The horse is in very good
form.
SOUTH CAPE
is due back at Cisswood in the next couple of
days.

Thursday
12th January
Our chasing
star FRUITY O'ROONEY has been entered in the listed Skybet Chase at
Doncaster on 28th January. It is a 0-155 worth £75,000 so it is
going to be a hot race! The provisional plan is to go to Doncaster,
then to Newbury for the Racing Plus Open Handicap Chase on February
25th, then to head to Cheltenham for the 3 1/4 mile chase on day 1
of the festival.
We will be
holding a visit to see our KHELEYF filly at Joe Tuite's yard on
Saturday 21st January, when owners in the partnership will be
choosing the filly's name.
IMPERIAL
RUBY is doing well in his trotting work and will be moving back to
Mick Channon's yard on Tuesday. Mick will be very impressed when he
sees how well this horse has done over the winter. ROME moves to
Warren Place to join Henry Cecil's next week from his pre training
yard and we will be taking interested parties to see him on 4th
February.
|
|
Tuesday 10th
January
RED YARN was
disappointing at Lingfield on Friday, she has been very keen at
home but seemed unenthusiastic on the day. This is typical RED
YARN, she can be in and out, but hopefully next time she will be on
a going day! She will have the blinkers back on next time and
is likely to be dropped back in trip slightly. She is absolutely
fine following the race and we will see where Joe wants to send her
next.
Three year
old colts JUPITER STORM and SHAMAHAN are both in good shape,
JUPITER STORM was paid a compliment yesterday by Henry Clay, who we
beat at Brighton in Ocober, winning a decent maiden. Our colts are
only in gentle work at the moment but will be ready to run by the
time the flat season begins in
April.
We still
have places avaialble at our hospitality event at Fontwell's race
meeting on 27th January. It will be really good fun, please call us
now to reserve your place.
|
|
Thursday 5th
January
DYNAMIC
IDOL found the ground much to sticky at Huntingdon yesterday
and once he was finding life difficult Jamie Moore allowed him to
coast home. Next time we will wait for better ground, this horse is
better than he has shown so far.
RED YARN
goes to Lingfield tomorrow for her first run for Joe Tuite. She
will be ridden by promising apprentice Charlie Bishop who has
already been to the yard to ride her on the gallops. She has had a
good break from the usual routine since being with Joe and we are
hoping she will be fresh and enthusiastic. She is well handicapped
on her best form and we can't wait to see what she can
do.
|
|
Monday 2nd
January
DYNAMIC
IDOL will hopefully head to Huntingdon on Wednesday for his
second run over hurdles. Unfortunately he missed the cut at Taunton
last week and at Plumpton today the ground will be just too soft.
Declarations for Huntingdon take place
tomorrow.
RED YARN is
entered at Lingfield on Friday as
expected.
Our January
newsletter has just been sent and there is a full update on each of
our horses on the January
News page of
this site.

Wednesday
28th December
What a
fantastic win from FRUITY O'ROONEY at Kempton yesterday! Our little
horse has the heart of a lion and he once again showed enormous
courage to lead all the way in a competitive and high grade 3 mile
chase. As well as netting over £12000 in prize money he also
returned at 12-1 so it was a lucrative day for all concerned. He is
in great shape this morning.
TOBAGO BAY
ran at Kempton on Boxing Day, he led for a long way but paid the
price of going off so quickly, finishing down the field. He showed
all of his old enthusiasm though and there will be other races for
him.
DYNAMIC IDOL
is ready for a second run over hurdles and ought to go much closer
on better ground this time. He is entered at Taunton (30/12)
Newbury (31/12) and Plumpton (2/1), there is also a race for him at
Lingfield on 5th Jan. Gary will let us know shortly which race he
prefers. RED YARN is on track for her first race for Joe Tuite at
Lingfield on 6th.
|
|
Wednesday
21st December
Jockey Jamie
Goldstein felt he was going to win on GOOD LUCK CHARM at Kempton
yesterday but he got swallowed up by speedier types in the closing
stages. He will be well suited by a step up in trip next season to
10 furlongs plus when he will be able to make the most of his
stamina. He will now have a short break before being prepared for
the new turf season.
TOBAGO BAY
is on track for the 2 mile 5 furlond handicap hurdle at Kempton on
Boxing Day and FRUITY O'ROONEY will be entered today for the 3 mile
handicap chase there the following
day.
|
|
Monday 19th
December
GOOD LUCK
CHARM goes to Kempton tomorrow for a median auction maide over a
mile. The horse ran a very good race to finish second last time and
he is very well. We are concerned about the Khalid Abdulla runner
Lancaster Gate, apparently this horse is thought highly of at home
despite only finishing 6th on his only start to date. You can't run
scared of just one horse though, and we'll take our
chance!
|
|
Friday 16th
December
FRUITY has
not been declared at Ascot tomorrow, he will wait for Kempton on
27th.
|
|
Thursday
15th December
Gary Moore
was pleased with DYNAMIC IDOL's sixth place at Folkestone on very
heavy round on Tuesday. We didn't expect the horse to like the
going but he raced keenly and attacked his hurdles well - he would
just be more effective on better ground. He will head to Plumpton
on 2nd or Lingfield on 5th January and ought to go close
then.
TOBAGO BAY
has not been declared at Ascot tomorrow, the ground will not suit
him. He will head to Kempton on Boxing
Day.
|
|
Tuesday 13th
December
DYNAMIC IDOL
goes to Folkestone today in good form but we are not sure whether
the soft, heavy in places ground will suit him. However you don't
know until you try!
FRUITY
O'ROONEY is entered in the 3 mile listed chase at Ascot on
Saturday. Gary will have a close look at the entries before
deciding whether to go to Ascot or to wait for 27th at
Kempton.
|
|
Monday 12th
December
DYNAMIC IDOL
has been declared at Folkestone tomorrow. We're very much looking
forward to seeing him have his first run over
hurdles.
We held
stable visits on Saturday to see RED YARN at Joe Tuite's yard and
IMPERIAL RUBY at Fawley House Stud. We saw RED YARN in action, she
seems very well and has had a complete break from the routine,
leading Joe's yearlings in their hacks around the fields. She is
now back in full training but will go hunting this week for a fun
outing. Joe has a race at Lingfield in mind for her over a mile and
a quarter on 5th January. We also had a quick look at our KHELEYF
filly and INTERAKT. The filly is beautiful and she looks very
powerful. INTERAKT is spending time in the paddocks on a full
holiday but she also looked very
well.
IMPERIAL
RUBY has done really well at Fawley House Stud. He is a very
attractive horse and he has filled out nicely without getting at
all fat! He has been able to spend time in the paddocks since being
gelded and he will start on the walker this week before returning
to West Ilsley and Mick Channon in January or February. There are
new photos of RED YARN and IMPERIAL RUBY on their web
pages.

|
Thursday 8th
December
GOOD LUCK
CHARM ran a really promising race to finish second at Kempton
yesterday, he was beaten by a gambled on horse and Tom Queally told
us after the race that our horse will be a nice three year old over
longer trips next year.
DYNAMIC IDOL
has been entered at Folkestone on 13th and will today be entered
for Newbury on 14th.
|
|
Tuesday 6th
December
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has not been entered at Doncaster on Saturday, Gary
decided that there would be no point going all the way to Doncaster
when there are nice races at Ascot on 17th and Kempton on 27th. He
could feasibly run Fruity in both of these
races.
TOBAGO BAY
will be entered at Ascot on Friday 16th
December.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT will now have a winter holiday at Framfield, and will be
brought back for a turf campaign in the
spring.
|
|
Monday 5th
December
GOOD LUCK
CHARM worked well again at the weekend and has been declared for
the mile nursery at Kempton on Wednesday, Tom Queally rides. Gary
has not declared LIGHTNING SPIRIT - while she seems well she has
not quite sparkled as he would have hoped in her latest pieces of
work.
Our new
hurdler DYNAMIC IDOL is going well and Gary has pencilled in races
at Folkestone on 13th or Newbury on 14th
December.
We
will be holding a visit to Joe Tuite's yard on Saturday for owners
of RED YARN, or anyone interested in joining this
partnership.
|
|
Thursday 1st
December
The December
issue of our newsletter is now available, to subscribe please fill
out our website contact form. An update on all of the horses
appears on the December
News page of
thiswebsite.
GOOD LUCK
CHARM has been given a provisional entry at Kempton on Wednesday
and LIGHTNING SPIRIT is entered at Lingfield and Kempton the same
day. All shares have now been sold in our KHELEYF filly with Joe
Tuite and we will soon begin the naming
process.
|
|
Friday 25th
November
We are now
taking bookings for our next Owner Event on 27th January at
Fontwell Park. Our last event at Fontwell was a big success and
this year we will have use of a suite in the new glass fronted
Premier Grandstand. We will hear from a guest speaker and we will
also hold a draw for our recently accumulated winners trophies. The
package includes admission, racecards, a two course hot buffet
lunch and a welcome drink. We have subsidised places for owners at
£25 each, guests will be £55. Please contact Sarah on 07714 170457
or sb@hotsr.co.uk to book your
place.

Tuesday 22nd
November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY looked as fresh as a daisy out on the gallops this morning
and you wouldn't know he had a tough race on Friday. Philip Hide
made sure he didn't do too much but you could see that Fruity
wanted to go a lot quicker! DYNAMIC IDOL worked well, pleasing
Jamie Moore, who said 'he gets better and better the further he
goes'. He is due to go for a racecourse gallop at Lingfield
tomorrow.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and GOOD LUCK CHARM have both had a course of antibiotics
after coughing a few times but they looked fantastic, LIGHTNING
SPIRIT did a faster piece of work and has not coughed since the
weekend so she ought to be ready for entries soon. GLC has
possibile targets at Kempton on 7th or 4th
Dec.
Joe Tuite
had a parade of his yearlings on Sunday and our KHELEYF filly
looked very well - we now have just one 10% share remaining. RED
YARN has settled in very well there and is due to have a day out
hunting next week. She will really enjoy
that!
|
|
Sunday 20th
November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY put in a heroic effort at Ascot on Friday (as did Jamie
Moore!) to finish a very brave second, giving away a lot of weight
to the winner. His jumping wasn't as fluent as it can be because
the fences are so big for a small horse but despite this he was so
game and he led throughout the race. When the favourite, recent
Cheltenham winner SWING BILL came to challenge it looked like it
was all over but Fruity saw him off, only to be passed by
stealthily ridden PROPHETE DE GUYE. Once again Fruity surpassed all
expectations. He is a very special horse! You can now watch the
race on Fruity's page.
DYNAMIC IDOL
did a very nice piece of work with Gary's recent winner RIGHT STUFF
yesterday morning and he is almost ready to
run.
|
|
Friday 18th
November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY goes to Ascot this afternoon for the 3 mile handicap
chase. The trip will be more suitable than the 2 1/2 miles at
Sandown last time when they were always going a bit quick for him,
putting pressure on his jumping. He still has a big weight to carry
for a small horse though, and it might be a tough ask again today.
He always trys his best though, and will be fitter for having had a
run.
GOOD LUCK
CHARM was disappointing at Lingfield on Wednesday, it is possible
that he is suffering from the slight bug which is going around at
Gary's yard (FRUITY O'ROONEY has scoped clean and doesn't seem to
be affected). Hopefully he was just having a bad day and will do
better next time, we still have faith he is much better than
that.
|
|
Wednesday 16th
November
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT is unfortunately a non runner this afternoon after she
coughed a couple of times yesterday morning. She will have a short
course of antibiotics and will be back in action soon. GOOD LUCK
CHARM is in good form and he lines up in the 1.20pm
race.
Our newest
purchase DYNAMIC IDOL has been schooling very well over hurdles and
will soon be ready to run. John has put a great sequence of action
photos on the website
|
|
Monday 14th
November
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and GOOD LUCK CHARM have both been declared at Lingfield on
Wednesday, Seb Sanders rides both
horses.
TOBAGO BAY
ran well for a long time at Fontwell yesterday, although the sticky
ground and big weight found him out in the end. It was good to see
him racing with enthusiasm and hopefully he'll be winning again
soon.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY is entered over 3 miles at Ascot on
Friday.
|
|
Friday 11th
November
TOBAGO BAY
has been declared for the Tikram (formerly the Salmon Spray)
Handicap Hurdle at Fontwell on Sunday, Andrew Glassonbury rides.
FRUITY O'ROONEY was entered in the Southern National but 3 1/2
miles under top weight would be hard work for a little horse and
Gary has decided to save him for another
day.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and GOOD LUCK CHARM are both entered at Lingfield on
Wednesday. It looks like a good opportunity for LIGHTNING
SPIRIT to follow up her Kempton
win.
Details of
our new horses have been confirmed, please see the 'shares for
sale' page for more information. Yearling colt ROME will be trained
by Henry Cecil, DYNAMIC IDOL is an exciting hurdling prospect with
Gary Moore.
|
|
Wednesday 9th
November
John and
Eloise are meeting with Henry Cecil tomorrow to discuss the
prospect of him training our yearling colt by HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR
next year! It would be hugely exciting to have a horse trained by
such a high profile trainer.
Shares in
our Kheleyf filly with Joe Tuite have all but sold out in record
time, and if we can reach an agreement with Henry Cecil tomorrow
then demand in the next partnership could be unprecedented! After
the success of JUPITER STORM and SHAMAHAN this year we will also be
purchasing another yearling to go into training with Gary Moore
this month.
We are also
on the verge of securing a new National Hunt horse with Gary -
details of DYNAMIC IDOL will be available
shortly.
|
|
Tuesday 8th
November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY and TOBAGO BAY have been entered at Fontwell on Sunday.
FRUITY ran at Sandown on Saturday but has come out of the race so
well that Gary has given him a provisional entry in the Southern
National. All three of the horse's novice chase wins came at the
course and he does seem to love it there. TOBAGO BAY is entered in
the handicap hurdle named after Gary's star chaser (and Cheltenham
Festival winner) Tikram. He has been working well since his
disappointing run on the flat at
Wolverhampton.
|
|
Sunday 6th
November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY was always going to find it difficult in a hot handicap
chase at Sandown over 2 1/2 miles at Sandown yesterday. They were
always going a stride too fast for him which put his jumping under
pressure but Gary and Jamie are hopeful he can regain the winning
thread over a longer trip and down a grade in the coming weeks. He
is very happy this morning and has come out of the race
well.
DEUX ETOILES
doesn't go to Hereford tomorrow, unfortunately he has a sore leg.
More to follow.
|
|
Tuesday 1st
November
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT is entered at Wolverhampton on Friday but will not run, Gary
will give her a bit longer before runnning her again after last
week's exciting win.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY is entered at Sandown on Saturday in a 2 1/2 mile chase,
he will neeed the forecast rain to arrive if he is to run.
DEUX ETOILES has also been entered for his first race of the
season, a 2 mile 1 furlong handicap hurdle at Hereford on
Monday.
|
|
Monday 31st
October
Just a short
note to let you know we all survived the 10 mile Great South Run
yesterday! We are all still feeling slightly fragile but we're very
proud of ourselves! Photos to follow soon. Thank you so much to all
the owners who sponsored us, we think in total we will have raised
close to £7,000 for the Tuberous Sclerosis Association. You can
still sponsor us at
www.justgiving.com/indiadamski
Thank
you!

|
Thursday 27th
October
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT ought to have every chance of winning her first race at
Kempton this evening.
TOBAGO BAY
and GOOD LUCK CHARM go to Wolverhampton tomorrow. TOBAGO BAY has
generally been disappointing on the flat and this is a warm up for
a return to hurdling. He is very well though and certainly has the
ability to run well. GOOD LUCK CHARM is dropped back to 7 furlongs
which is a slight concern but he has been in fantastic form since
his fourth last time at Lingfield.
Shares are
now available in our powerful yearling filly by Kheleyf, in
training with Joe Tuite. Please see the shares for sale page for
details and photos.
|
|
Tuesday 25th
October
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has been declared at Kempton on Thursday and Ryan Moore
takes the ride - our filly hasn't had the best of luck but having
Ryan on board gives her a big advantage and we hope this might be
her day!
GOOD LUCK
CHARM will be declared tomorrow for Friday's race at
Wolverhampton.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY popped over a few schooling fences this morning and jumped
well, hopefully the forecast rain will arrive and we will have
suitable ground for him to go to Sandown on 5th
November.
|
|
Friday 21st
October
It was
brilliant to see JUPITER STORM win at Brighton yesterday. Our
handsome Galileo colt has always shown such promise and he looked
really impressive over the mile trip in this good maiden, staying
on purposefully to beat some nice horses. He was always going to be
a better three year old when he fills out his big frame and in this
horse, SHAMAHAN and GOOD LUCK CHARM we have some very nice 3 year
olds for next season.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT showed at Wolverhampton that she wants further than 7
furlongs and we really hope our unlucky filly can win
soon.
RED YARN
ought to have been given a more patient ride over 10 furlongs at
Brighton and she ran out of steam late on to finish 5th. She is
another who can be winning soon.
|
|
Thursday 20th
October
GOOD LUCK
CHARM ran really well at Lingfield on Tuesday to finish fourth
behind a Godolphin winner. He was a big outsider in the betting
after his disasterous debut at Epsom but this time he behaved
beautifully and he really stood out in the Parade Ring so we were
not surprised to see him run so well. This was effectively his
first race because he got so overrought last time and to be so
competitive against more experienced and well regarded horses is
very exciting. Gary was delighted and is looking forward to running
the horse again in around 2-3 weeks
time.
We have
three runners today, Red Yarn (2.30pm Brighton) Jupiter Storm
(3.05pm Brighton) and Lightning Spirit (9.10pm Wolverhampton). All
ought to have a good chance and with Gary's yard back in form it
could be a very exciting day. Gary had a double at Plumpton on
Monday, and winners at Fontwell and Kempton
yesterday.
|
|
Tuesday 18th
October
GOOD LUCK
CHARM runs at Lingfield this afternoon, he still has a lot to learn
but we are confident he is going to behave better than he did last
time. He is still a bit green and we expect him to improve again
for today's run.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT goes to Wolverhampton on Thursday and Pat Cosgrave takes the
ride, she needs to prove she goes on the all weather but her last
run was an improved effort and she is in good
form.
JUPITER
STORM runs at Brighton on Thursday, he handled the track on his
racecourse gallop and is in good form. RED YARN has also been
declared at Brighton. she missed her race at Wolverhampton at the
weekend when she was off her food but she is much better and is
also expected to line up.
|
|
Sunday 16th
October
MOHANAD ran
a very good race at Cheltenham yesterday, jumping brilliantly and
looking to be in with a chance coming into the straight, but the
weight told in the end and he finished a good sixth. He will now
have a holiday after a busy season where he has won 3 races and
been placed countless times.
RED YARN was
a non runner at Wolverhampton last night because she didn't eat up
the day before and seemed slightly off colour. She has eaten half
her breakfast this morning so hopefully she is feeling better, she
has an entry at Brighton on Thursday.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT missed the cut at Yarmouth on Tuesday so is expected to head
to Wolverhampton on Thursday. GOOD LUCK CHARM goes to Lingfield on
Tuesday, James Doyle rides.
|
|
Friday 14th
October
MOHANAD has
been declared at Cheltenham tomorrow, with the quick ground in his
favour we are hopeful he can finish his very successful season in
style! He was raised a huge 9lb for his win at Huntingdon though,
so this will be much harder. FRUITY O'ROONEY was not declared at
Cheltenham, we are waiting for some rain before he makes his
seasonal return.
JUPITER
STORM and GOOD LUCK CHARM have been for a racecourse gallop at
Brighton this morning, both went well and seemed happy on the
undulating track. GOOD LUCK CHARM holds an entry at Lingfield next
Wednesday and both horses are entered at Brighton on Thursday.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT has also been entered at Wolverhampton on
Thursday.
|
|
Thursday 13th
October
GOOD LUCK
CHARM doesn't run at Brighton today, Gary thinks he could do with
one more week, he will have a racecourse gallop tomorrow (With
JUPITER STORM) and he will run at Lingfield or Brighton next
week.
RED YARN has
been declared for the 9 1/2 furlong race at Wolverhampton on
Saturday and George Baker will ride.
|
|
Tuesday 11th
October
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT ran an improved race at Yarmouth yesterday, she finished a
staying on seventh after finding herself behind a wall of horses
early on. She was gaining on the leaders throughout the final
furlong and looked unlucky not to have finished closer. Gary will
send her to Wolverhampton on 20th for her next run and we're
desperately hoping for better luck for our
filly.
GOOD LUCK
CHARM has been declared to run at Brighton on
Thursday.
RED YARN has
two entries at Wolverhampton on Saturday (15th). Gary has a choice
of a mile or a 9 furlong handicap.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been entered for the 3 mile chase rather than the 2
1/2 mile chase at Cheltenham on Saturday, he will not run unless
there is significant rain but both Jamie Moore and Philip Hide feel
that the longer race is preferable for the horse. If the ground is
too quick he could go to Stratford on 22nd or Sandown on 5th
November.
MOHANAD is
also entered at Cheltenham in the 2 mile 5 furlong hurdle. He has
been raised a whopping 9lb for his win at Huntingdon last
week.
THE SHUFFLER
looked fantastic at a stable visit at the weekend, both he and
TOBAGO BAY are almost ready for entries
now.
|
|
Friday 7th
October
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has been declared at Yarmouth on Monday - she just scraped
in as bottom weight. The trip is a mile and the track is nice and
straightforward so it will be interesting to see what she can
do.
|
|
Friday 7th
October
FREE TUSSY
ran very well at Kempton on Wednesday evening and with a bit more
luck in running would have finished in the prize money. It was an
encouraging effort on his first run back after his holiday and he
is sure to improve for the run too. His next race could be the lady
amateurs race at Nottingham on 28th.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has entries at Yarmouth and Salisbury on Monday and Kempton
on Wednesday, she has now also been entered at Kempton and Brighton
on Thursday. All of these races have a lot of entries so it makes
sense to enter for all suitable races and see where we get
in.
GOOD LUCK
CHARM has been a lot more sensible since he was gelded and is
very well. He has been entered at Brighton on Thursday,
alternatively he could wait for Lingfield (18th) or Newbury
(21st)
MOHANAD
missed the cut for the Cesarewitch and Sheena will not send him to
Chepstow on Saturday where the ground is soft. He has an entry at
Salisbury on Monday but Sheena plans to take him to Cheltenham next
Saturday (15th) for a 2 1/2 mile handicap hurdle. This is the day
that FRUITY O'ROONEY is also pencilled in for his first run of the
season, so it will be an exciting day!

|
Tuesday 4th
October
ROYAL REASON
was disappointing again yesterday, she raced more prominently and
was going well but didn't finish her race well and we are at a loss
to explain the performance.
THE SHUFFLER
worked very nicely this morning in his first bit of fast work and
Gary is very much looking forward to running him. LIGHTNING SPIRIT
went well too, she has entries at Yarmouth and Salisbury on Monday
and there are other races for her next week so we expect to see her
racing again.
FREE TUSSY
goes to Kempton tomorrow in the 6.40pm
handicap.
|
|
Monday 3rd
October
Brilliant
win from MOHANAD at Huntingdon yesterday! Further details to
follow. JUPITER STORM is fine after his visit to Newmarket on
Saturday.
ROYAL REASON
goes to Warwick today instead of Southwell
tomorrow.
|
|
Friday 30th
September
JUPITER
STORM has been declared for the Tattersalls Millions sales race on
Saturday and is one of 16 runners. MOHANAD has been declared at
Huntingdon on Sunday.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and FREE TUSSY are both expected to go to Kempton on
Wednesday. FREE TUSSY is unlikely to get in at Windsor on Monday.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT is having a second try on the all weather, Gary
puts her poor performance on the surface last time down to the fact
that a lot of his horses were not right, and we hope for better
this time.
ROYAL REASON
will to to Southwell on Tuesday rather than Warwick the previous
day.
We have just
bought a yearling filly by KHELEYF who will be trained by Joe Tuite
- details of this new partnership will be available
soon.
|
|
Tuesday 27th
September
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT didn't finish as close as we had hoped at Ffos Las
yesterday, Eloise was there and she says the ground was
bottomless, far softer than the good to soft we were expecting.
Martin Harley left the filly with a lot to do and she really
struggled in the mud.
JUPITER
STORM is on track for the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions Trophy at
Newmarket on Saturday, its a huge ask but what an exciting race to
be involved in! The horse worked well this
morning.
MOHANAD is
entered at Huntingdon in a 2 1/2 mile hurdle on Sunday. He has been
asked to run in some very competitive high grade hurdle races on
his last few NH starts, this will be an opportunity to run back at
his grade and we hope he'll go very
well.
Entries have
been made today for FREE TUSSY at Windsor and ROYAL REASON at
Warwick on Monday.
|
|
Monday 26th
September
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT is on her way to Ffos Las this morning, she has her ground,
the trip should suit and she will be wearing cheekpieces so we are
hoping for a good performance.
We had a
fantastic stable visit at Cisswood on Saturday morning when we had
the rare chance to see all of the HOTSR inmates (bar the injured
South Cape) out for third lot. This included the
jumpers FRUITY O'ROONEY, TOBAGO BAY, and DEUX ETOILES, half
siblings THE SHUFFLER, LIGHTNING SPIRIT and GOOD LUCK CHARM, plus
JUPITER STORM, entered at Newmarket on Saturday, and FREE TUSSY and
RED YARN.
|
|
Friday 23rd
September
RED YARN put
in a much improved run on the all weather at Wolverhampton last
night to finish fourth. She raced much more keenly than she has for
a long time and also looked to keep much straighter than she has
done recently.
INTERAKT ran
another cracker at Goodwood on Wednesday, finishing fourth in a
very competitive 0-80 handicap. If the ground had been a bit
quicker she would have finished closer. It has been a very busy and
successful season for this filly and she will now be wound down
over the next few weeks before having a wll deserved
holiday.
SOUTH CAPE
was due to run today but has unfortunately aggravated an old injury
and will need some time off.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT will go to Ffos Las on Monday, she has 2 entries there but
Gary favours the mile option unless the ground gets very
soft
|
|
Wednesday 21st
September.
ROYAL REASON
was disappointing yesterday - we hoped she would run better but she
got very tired in the closing stages over a mile and 7 furlongs.
Its possible that she needs more time after her recent
ilness.
RED YARN
goes all the way to Wolverhampton tomorrow for a fillies' handicap.
It will be her first run on the all weather since she was a 2 year
old and she will run without blinkers in an attempt to re-ignite
her.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has been working well and has entries at Ffos Las on Monday
and Chepstow on Tuesday.

|
Monday 19th
September
We had a
lovely day at Newbury on Saturday with the owners of JUPITER STORM.
Our Galileo colt ran very well on his first racecourse start, he
was a bit slow out of the stalls but was quickly up to lead and
jockey Pat Cosgrave was impressed with his lond stride. He got
bumped about and was a bit green when push came to shove, but ran
on very well in the closing stages and will come on an enormous
amount for the run. We can't wait to see him out
again!
MOHANAD ran
another good race to finish fifth in the Cesarewitch trial at
Newmarket. He is high enough in the handicap now but can always be
relied on to try his best. Both horses are fine following their
races.
ROYAL REASON
has been declared at Folkestone tomorrow - she is up in trip to a
mile and 7 furlongs and is in fantastic form. Joe Tuite thinks this
marathon trip could be the making of her. INTERAKT has been
declared for Goodwood on Wednesday. RED YARN will go to
Wolverhampton on Thursday rather than Kempton on Wednesday and
SOUTH CAPE has bypassed Folkestone tomorrow and is entered in the
Silver Cambridgeshire on Friday.

Friday 16th
September
Thank you so
much to all those owners who have very kindly sponsored us for the
10 mile Great South Run on Sunday 30th October. At the time of
writing we have raised well over
£3000.
We are
raising money for the Tuberous Sclerosis Association. This is a
genetic disorder which Eloise's daughter Indi suffers from. Eloise
and Caroline Penny, Indi's dad Luke, Sarah Bell and 5 others are
taking part. We would be very grateful for any further sponsorship
- you can donate at:

Thank
you!

Wednesday 14th
September
SOUTH
CAPE: Has age finally caught up with this 9
time winner? We hope not! He now heads to Folkestone next Tuesday
20thSeptember
over 9½ furlongs.
JUPITER
STORM: Makes his debut in a Yearling Bonus Maiden at Newbury this
Saturday over 7 furlongs. The only worry would be the soft
ground.
GOOD LUCK
CHARM: Has been gelded after a somewhat lively racecourse debut! He
will win before the end of the year and shares are still
available.
INTERAKT:
Now 18lbs higher than in June! Next target Goodwood
21stSeptember
over 6 furlongs.
RED YARN:
Has enjoyed a freshen up, heads to Kempton
21stSeptember
over 10 furlongs.
THE
SHUFFLER: Back cantering!
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT: Back to full health, runs at Chepstow or Fos Las later this
month.
MOHANAD:
Continues his great run of seconds, although we wouldn’t mind a
2nd in the
£50,000 Cesarewitch trail this Saturday at
Newmarket!
FREE TUSSY:
Will run in an Amateur Riders race at
Nottingham on 28 September with Hayley Moore on
board.
ROYAL
REASON: All eyes on this filly next Tuesday at Folkestone
20th September,
expected to go very well.
DEUX
ETOILES, TOBAGO BAY, FRUITY O’ROONEY: All back at Cisswood
preparing for the jump season, stable visit Saturday
24thSeptember
|
|
Monday 12th
September
JUPITER
STORM has been entered for his first race at Newbury on Saturday -
he worked well on Saturday morning.
MOHANAD has
been entered at Newmarket for the Cesarewitch trial on Saturday, he
ran brilliantly over a mile and a half at Epsom last week and the 2
miles 2 furlongs at Newmarket will be more to his liking. He will
sneak in with a lovely low weight.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT is not taking up any of her entries because she was coped
late last week and is still showing signs of a slight infection-she
will have another course of
antibiotics.
SOUTH CAPE
was disappointing again at Goodwood yesterday, he will be upped in
trip next time because he doesn't seem to have the speed over a
mile now.
|
|
Friday 9th
September
GOOD LUCK
CHARM was a real handful at Epsom yesterday on his first racecourse
outing. He was thoroughly overexcited and demolished a saddling box
before the race and needed several handlers to keep him under
control. Once he got onto the track he failed to settle at all and
threw away his chance. He has been gelded today (poor chap!) and
this should make him much easier to handle. Darryl Holland said
after the race that the horse can win races once he calms down and
he should be back on the track in 3-4 weeks
time.
MOHANAD ran
a great race again to finish second in the jump jockeys derby at
Epsom. He is a remarkable horse and he seems to be improivng
still!
SOUTH CAPE
has been declared at Goodwood on Sunday, he is down to a mark of 71
and he should have his preferred softer conditions so we hope to
see him back in the winner's enclosure.
|
|
Tuesday 6th
September
MOHANAD has
been declared for the jump jockeys race at Epsom on Thursday,
Leighton Aspell will ride. GOOD LUCK CHARM has also been declared
for what will be his first race. We still have a couple of shares
left in this lovely strong 2 year old, and we are offering to give
you your money back if he does not win by the end of the year!
Please contact us for more details.
|
|
Monday 5th
September
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT was declared for Newcastle today but unfortunately a blood
test showed that she is fighting a slight infection. There is no
sense in sending a horse all the way to Newcastle if she is not at
her very best, so LIGHTNING SPIRIT is a non runner. She looks great
though, certainly not ill, and we hope to see her out next week
instead.
|
|
Friday 2nd
September
INTERAKT
found one too good at Brighton this afternoon - it was another
placed finish to add to her collection though! We will speak to Joe
tomorrow about what might be next on her
agenda.
GOOD LUCK
CHARM has been entered for his first race at Epsom on Thursday -
shares are still available in this promising horse and if he
doesn't win by the end of the year we'll give you the purchase
price back!
MOHANAD has
also ben given an entry at Epsom - the 12f jump jockeys challenge
is a race in which he finished second last
year.
|
|
Thursday 1st
September
The latest
update on all of our horses is now available on the 'September
News' page of this website.
INTERAKT has
been declared at Brighton tomorrow - she carries a 6lb penalty for
last week's win but Charlie Bishop rides, claiming
7lb.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has entries at Newcastle (Monday) and Lingfield (Tuesday).
There will be more entries to follow as we try to find the right
race and the best ground for her.
It was a
promising return from ROYAL REASON at Goodwood on Tuesday when she
was not beaten that far in a decent maiden. She will come on for
the run and Joe Tuite expects her to be winning a race
soon.
|
|
Tuesday 30th
August
Thank you to
all owners who attended our summer celebration at Framfield on
Saturday - it really was a lovely day! Owners were able to see
TOBAGO BAY DEUX ETOILES and IL PORTICO and we had a wonderful lunch
(thanks to Caroline Penny and her
helpers).
ROYAL REASON
goes to Goodwood this afternoon, she is really well but this is
very much a re-introduction to racing and she will come on a lot
for the run.
INTERAKT is
entered back at Brighton on Friday.
|
|
Saturday 27th
August
INTERAKT won
her third race of the season last night night at Brighton, she
really is in flying form at the moment and she could be back at
Brighton for a fillies race next week. For more details see the
'our winners' page.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT finished fourth which is an improvement on her previous runs
but we still think she is capable of much better. The softer ground
was to her liking but we think she wants further and also a more
straightforward track. She is entered at Folkestone on
Wednesday.
|
|
Wednesday 24th
August
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and INTERAKT have both been declared at Brighton on Friday
evening. One wants soft (LIGHTNING SPIRIT) and one wants quick
ground (INTERAKT) so we will be watching the weather with interest.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT has alternative entries next week at Yarmouth and
Chepstow.
FRANKEL's
jockey Tom Queally rode our two year olds JUPITER STORM and GOOD
LUCK CHARM yesterday morning. He liked both horses a lot, JUPITER
STORM is ready to run now and should make his debut in mid
September, GOOD LUCK CHARM had a race pencilled in at Epsom next
week but Tom thinks he will benefit from a week or two more
work.
Our
impressive 2 year old winner SHAMAHAN chipped a bone in his knee
during his race at Windsor last week. This is a great shame because
he looked very smart, he has had a successful operation to remove a
fragment of bone this week and is recuperating well, he will be
back on the track at the beginning of next flat
season.
ROYAL REASON
has been entered at Goodwood next Tuesday, she has moved yards and
had treatment for stomach ulcers since she last ran, she looks very
well and we are looking forward to seeing her back on the
track.
SOUTH CAPE
ran a lacklustre race at Windsor on Monday, we are scratching our
heads about how to bring him back to form.
|
|
Monday 22nd
August
MOHANAD
found the going at Newton Abbot too sticky on Saturday and finished
a tired horse. It was a big ask running him in such a competitive
race but we're sure he would have finished much closer on quicker
ground. He is fine following the
race.
SOUTH CAPE
goes to Windsor this evening for another try at 10f. He didn't
settle over this longer trip last year but we do think he needs
further as he gets older and we hope it will suit him
today.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and INTERAKT are entered at Brighton on Friday, INTERAKT is
a likely runner while LIGHTNING SPIRIT will only run if we get
significant rain.
Interest has
been high in our latest partnership, GOOD LUCK CHARM is a 2 year
old by DOYEN in training with Gary Moore. Gary is so confident this
horse will win this year that we are offering your money back if he
does not win by 31st December! See the 'shares for sale' page for
more details.
|
|
Tuesday 16th
August
What a
thrilling win from SHAMAHAN at Windsor yesterday! Congratulations
to all his owners, the horse certainly made it look easy! For
further details and a film of the race please see the 'Our Winners'
page.
MOHANAD is
entered at Newton Abbot on Saturday for the valuable handicap
hurdle, Sheena plans to enter him for the Cesarewitch on 8th
October and its trial on 17th September next. There's nothing like
aiming high!
|
|
Sunday 14th
August
SHAMAHAN has
been declared for his second race, at Windsor tomorrow
evening.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT and RED YARN were not declared at Brighton on Tuesday.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT also has an entry at Folkestone on Wednesday but
she needs softer ground so we're hoping for rain. RED YARN is
expected to go to Salisbury on Friday for a lady amateurs race,
Hayley Moore will ride.
|
|
Saturday 13th
August
INTERAKT ran
another brilliant race (probably her best run so far this season)
to finish second at Salisbury on Thursday afternoon. She has gone
up 9lb since her Brighton win in June but seems to be getting
better and better. She is likely to go to Brighton on 26th
next.
SOUTH CAPE
didn't get the ground we hoped for, rain fell elsewhere in Sussex
but unfortunately not over Goodwood! Tadgh O'Shea said he felt
great but couldn't get going in time on the quicker ground, we will
be looking for softer ground and possibly will try upping him in
trip next time.
|
|
Wednesday 10th
August
An
update on some of our horses:
SOUTH CAPE:
Runs tomorrow at Goodwood in the 7.05 Handicap over 1mile. Has a
decent record here and off a good mark.
JUPITER
STORM: Continues to impress at home and continues to be entered in
nice races; latest the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy in
October.
INTERAKT:
Runs tomorrow at Salisbury in the 4.50 Fillies Handicap. A hattrick
is on the cards. One share is for sale in INTERAKT for just £250!
Go to Salisbury as an owner and win some prize money! Please
contact Eloise on 0780 9087136 for
details.
RED YARN:
Likely to run at Brighton next Tuesday
16thAugust over
7f.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT: Entered at Yarmouth next Monday
15thAugust,
expected to run well. Ignore her last
run.
IMPERIAL
RUBY: Does not run at Newbury on Friday due to a
setback.
MOHANAD:
Unlucky not to win at Lingfield again. Now heads to Newton Abbott
for £30,000 Handicap Hurdle on
20thAugust.
SHAMAHAN:
Promising debut 3rd in a
competitive Maiden, now entered for Windsor on Monday
15thAugust.
|
|
Monday 8th
August
MOHANAD goes to Lingfield today with a
great chance. It would be lovely to see him begin a sequence of
wins after having finished second so many
times!
Our
two year old colt by DOYEN has been named GOOD LUCK CHARM and
shares are now available - please see the 'shares for sale' page
for more details. Why not join us on the gallops to watch him in
action? Gary Moore expects him to have his first race this
month.
INTERAKT (Salisbury) and SOUTH CAPE
(Goodwood) are entered on Thursday and IMPERIAL RUBY is entered at
Newbury on Friday.
|
|
Saturday 6th
August
LIGHTNING SPIRIT didn't win as we had
expected at Lingfield yesterday, she didn't seem to enjoy the all
weather surface and we will be running her on the turf next time.
She is better than she has shown so
far.
MOHANAD has been declared at Lingfield on
Monday - he looks to have a good chance of winning at the course
again. SOUTH CAPE is entered at Goodwood on Thursday evening,
INTERAKT is entered at Salisbury on Thursday too. Joe Tuite had
intended to give her a longer break between races but she is so
well he has revised his plans!
IMPERIAL RUBY has been entered for his
first race, at Newbury on Friday. We will have to wait until the
entry in confirmed tomorrow to see whether he will get in as there
are a lot of entries.
|
|
Thurday 4th
August
SHAMAHAN had his first run this afternoon
at Folkestone, he finished 3 or 4 lengths behind the odds on winner
in third and it looked like a pretty decent debut run. It will be
interesting to see where Gary sends him next because he is sure to
have learned a lot.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT goes to Lingfield
tomorrow. As it turned out there was plenty of rain at Brighton but
at declarations on Wednesday Gary was worried that Brighton on
Friday may be too quick. There is no reason why she shouldn't like
the all weather and we're hopeful of a big
run.
MOHANAD wasn't declared at either Ascot or
Newmarket on Saturday, Sheena plans to send him back to Lingfield
(where he won last time out) on
Monday.
|
|
Tuesday 2nd
August
SHAMAHAN is declared for Folkestone on
Thursday but his participation is still dependent on some rain. He
has also this morning been entered for Windsor on
Monday.
MOHANAD has three entries - he stands no
chance of getting in at Ascot on Saturday (for the stayers race at
the Shergar Cup meeting) but could go to Newmarket the same day.
However Sheena has also entered him at Lingfield on Monday and on
first impressions, Lingfield looks like an 'easier'
opportunity.
We are still waiting to see
whether any rain arrives before deciding where to declare LIGHTNING
SPIRIT on Friday.
JUPITER STORM and our DOYEN 2 year old
(soon to be named) worked particularly well this
morning.
|
|
Sunday 31st
July
SHAMAHAN and LIGHTNING SPIRIT are both
expected to run this week. SHAMAHAN has entries at Brighton on
Wendesday, Folkestone on Thursday and Windsor on Tuesday -
Folkestone is the preferred option if the ground isn't too
quick.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT is entered at Yarmouth on
Thursday and Brighton and Lingfield on Friday - Brighton is the
target race but again we would need a bit of
rain.
|
|
Thursday 28th
July
SOUTH
CAPE has got in at Goodwood on Saturday - this is great news as he
goes particularly well at the track. RED YARN goes to Lingfield on
Saturday evening.
SHAMAHAN has been entered at Brighton on
Wendesday. He will also be entered at Folkestone on Thursday. He is
in great form and Gary is looking forward to running him (and
winning with him!).
|
|
Tuesday 26th
July
SOUTH
CAPE has entries at Newmarket on Friday evening and Goodwood on
Saturday.
JUPITER STORM has been given a speculative
entry in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket on 24th
September. It is too early yet to say whether he will be good
enough to line up (last year's winner was Frankel!) but its
certainly exciting. He continues to do everything right on the
gallops.
|
|
Monday 25th
July
Unfortunately MOHANAD missed the cut at
Goodwood on Wednesday. Sheena has spotted a valuable handicap
hurdle over 2 miles 6 furlongs at Newton Abbot on 20th
August.
RED YARN has
been entered at Lingfield on Saturday. SOUTH CAPE has been entered
at Goodwood, the weights will be published tomorrow and wil get an
idea of whether he might get
in.
|
|
Sunday 24th
July
We had
a brilliant evening at Lingfield last night with MOHANAD gaining
his second flat win (and third overall). He was turned out quickly
by Sheena West after finishing well in third over too short at trip
at Sandown on Wednesday. It was a brave decision but it paid off
handsomely and there were a lot of happy owners after the race!
MOHANAD is a lovely horse who loves his work and loves his racing
at he deserved a win because he is often knocked for finishing
second (through no fault of his own). Sheena will think carefully
about whether to send him to Goodwood on Wednesday for the valuable
2 mile 5 handicap.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT had her third run last
night too, she finished a staying on seventh and learned a lot
again. She is now eligible for a handicap mark and there will be
plenty of opportunities for her in the coming months. Gary was very
pleased with her and she has a good future ahead of
her.
|
|
Saturday 23rd
July
We saw
our two year olds SHAMAHAN, JUPITER STORM and colt by DOYEN on the
gallops this morning at Cisswood. All looked very well, SHAMAHAN is
ready to run and Gary will be looking for a maiden over 6 or 7
furlongs for him in the next week or two. JUPITER STORM was as
striking as ever, he is a later developing horse and is still
growing but he is getting stronger all the time and Gary hopes to
have him running in September - he has just been given an entry in
the Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket on 24th
September.
Our
colt by DOYEN is a younger half brother of THE SHUFFLER and
LIGHTNING SPIRIT. He has only recently arrived at Cisswood and is a
bit of a handful but Gary thinks he has plenty of ability and
expects him to be ready to run in 2 or 3 weeks. He is bred to stay
and we had been talking about keeping him for bumpers but Gary now
thinks he could be winning over 7 furlongs this year. He is
certainly one to watch.
RED YARN
and SOUTH CAPE worked together. Both looked very well. TOBAGO BAY
and FREE TUSSY are both back in gentle ridden work after their
holidays.
|
|
Friday 22nd
July
It has been
a busy couple of days with MOHANAD running an excellent race to
finish 3rd at Sandown on Wednesday evening and INTERAKT winning at
Bath yesterday.
This was
INTERAKT'S third win and she seems to be in excellent form at the
moment - thats two wins, two thirds and a fourth in her last five
runs. She has a great life at Joe Tuite's yard, spending a lot of
time in the paddocks to keep her fresh and she has been a
revelation recently. Joe has had two winners this week and we are
thrilled for him too. INTERAKT will have a bit of a break in the
paddock for the next couple of weeks before hopefully going back to
Brighton on 16th August.
MOHANAD ran
very well over an inadequate trip and he looked so well - Sheena
has already declared him again for Lingfield on Saturday evening.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT also runs at Lingfield, she has been off the track
for a while so it will be great to see her back in action
too.
|
|
Wednesday
20th July
Fingers
crossed for MOHANAD at Sandown this evening - it will be a damp
evening by the looks of it but the horse does have some good form
in the soft, so we hope he will run
well.
SOUTH CAPE
has been entered at Glorious Goodwood on Tuesday in the mile
handicap, he will also be entered there on Saturday for the 9f
apprentice handicap.
|
|
Tuesday 19th
July
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has been entered at both Lingfield and Salisbury on Saturday
evening - Gary will look closely at both races before deciding
which to go for.
INTERAKT has
been declared at Bath on Thursday.
|
|
Monday 18th
July
MOHANAD has
been declared at Sandown on Wednesday evening - it will be his
first run back after having sustained a nasty overreach wound in
May. He will also be given an entry at Lingfield on Saturday in
case Sandown gets too soft. If he runs very well at Sandown he
could go for the big stayers handicap at Glorious Goodwood next
Wednesday.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT worked very well on Saturday and she will today be entered
at Salisbury on Saturday. SHAMAHAN has got over his infection
and Gary expects to have him ready to run in around a
fortnight.
|
|
Friday 15th
July
INTERAKT ran
very well to finish a good 3rd at Leicester yesterday and she has
already been entered at Bath on Thursday - while she is so well it
makes sense to run her again quickly, she can then have a few quiet
weeks before going back to Brighton (scene of her 2 wins!) in mid
August. MOHANAD has been entered at Sandown on
Wednesday.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has finished his summer holiday and is now at Gary Moore's
Brighton yard, he will do plenty of walking and trotting there
before moving back to
Cisswood.
SHAMAHAN
will be scoped tomorrow, this will hopefully show he has recovered
from a slight infection and Gary can prepare him for his first
race. He looks a million dollars. IMPERIAL RUBY can be seen in
action on Mick Channon's website www.mickchannon.tv/gallops
|
|
Thursday
14th July
INTERAKT
goes to Leicester this afternoon at 5.30pm. Charlie Bishop takes
the ride and he has done his homework watching clips of INTERAKT'S
recent races and speaking to regular rider Harry Bentley. If she
goes well (and we expect her to) she will head to Bath on 21st
July.
MOHANAD was
entered at Newbury on Saturday but unfortunately he missed the cut
- he is likely to be entered at Sandown next
Wednesday.
|
|
Tuesday 12th
July
INTERAKT has
been declared at Leicester on Thursday - she is in great form since
her Brighton win. She could potentially go to Bath on 21st if
Leicester goes according to plan!
RED YARN had
a pretty disasterous run at Windsor yesterday and after the race
jockey George Baker admitted he gave her a bad ride - the filly is
fine but Gary will give her 3 weeks before running her
again.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT was in great form on the gallops this morning and Gary hopes
to send her to Salisbury on 23rd July for a 6f
handicap.
TOBAGO BAY
is back on the walker following his 6 week holiday in the paddocks
at Cisswood. He looks very well.
|
|
Monday 11th
July
RED YARN
goes to Windsor this evening for a mile handicap. She has been
running well over 7 furlongs and lots of owners have been keen to
see her back over a mile it it will be very interesting to see how
she runs. It is only a week and a half since her last run but Gary
has freshened her up and she looks well. Once again though we are
at a disadvantage with the 3 year olds who get a weight
allowance.
INTERAKT has
been entered at Leicester on Thursday - this will be her first run
since winning at Brighton and she will be running off a rating 4lb
higher.
|
|
Wednesday 6th
July
SOUTH CAPE
has been declared at Ascot on Friday - it was a tough decision
whether to run him on Friday or Saturday but Gary hopes that the
ground will be a bit better on Friday. Unfortunately SHAMAHAN will
not be running, while he looks fantastic a precautionary scope has
showed signs of a slight infection and is having a course of
antibiotics.
|
|
Tuesday 5th
July
JUPITER
STORM did his fastest piece of work yet this morning when he
accompanied RED YARN up the gallops. He really is the most striking
horse. Gary won't be asking any serious questions of him for a
month or so yet but he really looks the part and he moves
beautifully.
RED YARN has
been entered at Windsor on Monday evening, she has come out of last
week's race very well.
Our 2 year
old colt by DOYEN has arrived at Cisswood Stables today. He has
been in pre-training in Brighton with Robbie Brisland but is now
ready to do a bit more so Gary will have a look at him over the
next few days and we're looking forward to finding out what he
thinks! A homebred out of our broodmare LUCKY DICE, he is a half
brother to 2 time winner THE SHUFFLER and promising LIGHTNING
SPIRIT.
|
|
Monday 4th
July
SHAMAHAN has
been given his first entry, at Ascot on Friday. There is also a
race for him at Windsor on 11th, Gary will decide this week which
race is preferable. SOUTH CAPE has also been entered on the Ascot
card. Both horses worked very well on Saturday
morning.
|
|
Friday 1st
July
It was a
shame not to see RED YARN in the winner’s enclosure yesterday but
she ran a good race overall to finish 5th, beaten just 2 ½ lengths.
It might turn out to be a pretty decent race with the time of the
race identical to that of the early conditions race, and three 3
year olds finishing ahead of us. The winner looked very well
handicapped and bearing in mind that 3 year olds had a significant
weight advantage, we can’t be too disappointed. Gary thinks she can
win over 6,7 or 8 furlongs if we come down the handicap a bit. She
is fine this morning.
|
|
Wednesday
29th June
It was so
exciting to see INTERAKT win at Brighton yesterday (her second win
at the course). Harry Bentley, who rode MOHANAD to win in a very
close finish in March, was on board again and he timed his effort
perfectly to get INTERAKT up by a neck. It was a first win for new
trainer Joe Tuite so there was plenty to celebrate after the
race!
|
|
Tuesday 28th
June
Unfortunately FREE TUSSY pulled off a shoe
in the horse box on the way to Salisbury on Sunday, he was re-shod
on arrival and seemed fine, but pulled up a little bit lame after
the race. This would certainly explain his disappointing run and
Gary says he was a little bit footsore when he returned home. This
should be a very minor hold up but Gary plans to give him a short
break anyway as he has been on the go for a long time. There are
races for him at the end of July (lady amateur riders so Hayley
Moore can ride) and these are likely to be his next
target.
INTERAKT runs at Brighton this afternoon.
She isn't the most reliable but has put in some good placed efforts
recently and has the ability to win this type of
race.
|
Saturday
25th June
RED YARN has been entered at Newbury on
Thursday evening in a 61-80 7 furlong handicap. She is in good form
and Gary is aiming to have either George Baker or Tom Queally on
board. They know this filly and she isn't the most straightforward
so a strong jockey who knows her habits is a big
plus! |
|
Friday 24th
June
FREE TUSSY
has been declared at Salisbury on Sunday, with a warm and dry
weekend forecast conditions should be in his favour and George
Baker, who knows him very well, takes the ride. He has run two very
good races in his most recent outings and we are hopeful of another
good run.
|
|
Thursday
23rd June
Our 2 year
olds are all going well, JUPITER STORM is cantering nicely and Gary
Moore expects him to be having his first run in August or
September. His really is a beautiful horse. Our Shamardal colt is
also very well and being an earlier sort it looks like he may make
his debut at Ascot on 8th July – we
have one share still available in this fabulous colt. IMPERIAL RUBY
(with Mick Channon) had a breathing operation recently which has
really helped him. He looks fantastic and is now just weeks away
from making his debut too. We also have a big strong 2 year old by
DOYEN, he is expected to go into training with Gary Moore soon,
DOYEN is doing well as a jump sire.
3 year old
filly LIGHTNING SPIRIT had a fall recently which caused a hold up
but she is back in work now and will be ready to run again in a
couple of weeks. ROYAL REASON has moved from Mick Channon to join
Joe Tuite, she is a big weak filly and we feel she will benefit
from the individual care that she will get in a small yard. Her
stablemate INTERAKT has put in some good placed efforts recently
and is expected to run well at Brighton on
28th. RED YARN
was unlucky not to finish closer over an inadequate trip at
Leicester recently, she is expected to go to Newbury on
30th June.
Fellow 4 year old THE SHUFFLER has recovered very well from a
suspensory injury and is back cantering, Gary expects him to be
running in mid July.
SOUTH CAPE
ran at Salisbury yesterday, he faded late on in the race and
possibly need to come down the handicap a few pounds. FREE TUSSY is
on loan to us until the end of the year, he was placed at Goodwood
recently and is entered at Salisbury on Sunday. FREE TUSSY is a 6
time winner and will give us plenty of fun this summer - for just
£500 you can join this partnership until 31st December
2011. This will give you the opportunity to go racing as an
owner as well as joining us on the gallops to watch him
work. You will also receive a share of all prize money
won.
Amongst our
jumpers FRUITY O’ROONEY and DEUX ETOILES are on holiday at
Framfield. IL PORTICO is also at Framfield recovering from a tendon
injury. TOBAGO BAY is having a short holiday at Cisswood to freshen
him up mid season. He is getting plenty of grass and he is looking
great. MOHANAD (Sheena West) cut his leg in the paddock and while
he is in great shape and is still in work, he will not be able to
race until the wound is completely healed. We don’t expect this to
take too much longer. Our 7 time winner OR JAUNE has run his last
race for us and has been found a lovely new
home.
|
Sunday
19th June
ROYAL REASON
runs tomorrow at Kempton, it's her first time on the all weather
and we hope she takes to the surface as this is a make or break
run.
We had a few
entries at Brighton this week but due to the soft ground nothing
runs however SOUTH CAPE (who likes a bit of cut) will be declared
for Salisbury on Wednesday.
Poor RED
YARN did not stand a chance at Leciester, even I know keeping the
whip in your left hand is not the best idea on a filly that hangs
badly right! If the weather improves she will head to Newbury on
30th June. |
Thursday
16th June
After the
wash out at Salisbury last Sunday, RED YARN today heads all the way
to Leicester in search of better ground (currently good,
good-to-firm in places.) We expect the filly to run a big
race!
INTERAKT was
unlucky in both starts last week finishing in the money but just
missing out the top prize once again. She will head back to
Brighton in two weeks time. SOUTH CAPE was unfortunatley ballotted
out of the Royal Hunt Cup but will run at Saslibury next Wednesday
22nd June for a Class 2 contest over 1 mile. He will love all this
rain.
ROYAL REASON
will is dropped back to 1mile 2f at Kempton Park on
Monday. |
|
Wednesday
8th June
DEUX ETOILES
will go to Fontwell tomorrow for the 2 1/2 mile novice hurdle.
There has been more rain this week and showers are forecast later
today and Gary is confident that there will be no jarr in the good,
good to firm ground. Gary has been doing plenty of work with this
horse and he should be a lot fitter than last time when he went
very well for a long way but faded in the closing
stages.
|
|
Tuesday
7th June
ROYAL REASON
has been declared at Newbury on Thursday, this will be her first
time stepped up to a mile and a half.
INTERAKT is
expected to run at Lingfield on Saturday evening. We are hoping for
more luck this time, she is in good form.
RED YARN has
been entered at Salisbury on Sunday, the race is a 7 furlong
handicap for horses rated 0-75. Now on a mark of 74 this race looks
ideal and it has been in the plans for a long time. She ran a great
race at Folkestone last time and has been very well
since.
As well as
his entry at Fontwell on Thursday, DEUX ETOILES has been entered at
Aintree on Friday. Gary is watching the weather and will make
a decision based on the going.
|
|
Saturday
4th June
Hayley Moore
gave FREE TUSSY a great ride at Goodwood yesterday to finish a neck
second (after all these seconds surely we deserve a
win!).
ROYAL REASON
has two entries next Thursday at Newbury and Nottingham, Mick will
make a decision nearer the time as to which she goes for. DEUX
ETOILES is entered at Fontwell the same day, his participation is
dependent on some give in the
ground.
We will be
cheering for Ryan Moore and Carlton House in the Derby this
afternoon!
|
|
Thursday
2nd June
Mick Channon
reports that ROYAL REASON is very well and completely over the
infection she picked up after her last run. Video of her on the
gallops alongside MUSIC SHOW (a Group 1 winner) can be seen on
Mick's website www.mickchannon.tv. She has races at Newbury on 9th
June and Sandown on 10th June as
possibilities.
INTERAKT
seems to be fine after her rough race at Brighton, she could go to
Lingfield on 11th or Brighton again on 14th.
|
|
Wednesday
1st June
FREE TUSSY
has been declared at Goodwood on Friday evening. He runs in the
6.15pm 9 furlong amateur riders race with Hayley Moore on
board.
JUPITER
STORM is back cantering after a hold up and is looking
fantastic.
|
|
Tuesday
31st May
OR JAUNE
didn't seem to enjoy his racing at Fontwell on Sunday and it may be
that he has run his last race. We will be talking to all owners
individually over the next couple of days about our plans for
him.
RED YARN has
been entered at Lingfield on Saturday, but will be saved for
Salisbury on 12th June, a 7 furlong fillies' handicap. LIGHTNING
SPIRIT will be aimed at a race on the all weather at Lingfield on
11th June.
The
SHAMARDAL colt worked particularly well this
morning.
|
|
Sunday
29th May
OR JAUNE
will go to Fontwell today and Gary will make a decision when he
arrives as to whether there is enough give in the ground for the
horse to run.
The going is
still good to firm at Towcester too so DEUX ETOILES will not run
there tomorrow. ROYAL REASON has not been declared at Leicester on
Tuesday, Mick will look for an easier race and a smaller field for
the filly's first run back after a break.
FREE TUSSY
has been entered at Goodwood on Friday. He ran very well in an
amateur riders race at Newbury under Hayley Moore recently and she
will ride again in a similar race.
|
|
Friday
27th May
Great run
from RED YARN to finish 2nd at Folkestone yesterday, for a
sometimes quirky filly she showed a great attitude and Tom Queally,
riding for the first time, said she fought all the way to the line.
He expects her to be winning again soon and she could be on her way
to Salisbury next.
INTERAKT
pulled very hard at Brighton and over a furlong further than last
time faded in the closing stages. It was incredibly windy at
Brighton and it looked like the combination of high winds and
blinkers lit her up too much.
|
|
Wednesday
25th May
TOBAGO BAY
was very disappointing at Chepstow yesterday despite going off
favourite. The vet cannot find anything wrong with him so the horse
will now have a brief holiday to try to freshen him
up.
ROYAL REASON
has been entered at Leicester on
Tuesday.
|
|
Tuesday
24th May
TOBAGO BAY
goes to Chepstow today with a big chance if he can leave his
disappointing last run behind him. Gary thinks in hindsight that he
ran him too soon last time and now he has been freshened up we are
hopeful of a big run.
INTERAKT has
been declared at Brighton and RED YARN goes to Folkestone on
Thursday. LIGHTNING SPIRIT was not declared because we are waiting
for softer ground.
OR JAUNE is
entered in a 2 mile 6 furlong handicap hurdle at Sunday's meeting
at Fontwell. DEUX ETOILES has just been entered at Towcester on
Monday and also on Monday RED YARN has another entry at
Leicester.
SOUTH CAPE
has been dropped 3lb and will be aimed at the Royal Hunt Cup at
Royal Ascot next.
|
|
Monday
23rd May
DEUX ETOILES
was not declared at Huntingdon tomorrow because there has been no
rain and he will need some cut in the ground. It is getting very
frustrating because we have a lot of horses who need the ground a
bit softer. The long range forecasts predict a dry June but we are
hoping they are wrong (as they often
are!).
|
|
Sunday
22nd May
TOBAGO BAY
has been declared at Chepstow on Tuesday. He is yet to win on the
flat (he is a 4 time hurdle winner) but has a low handicap mark and
he ran very promisingly on the all weather in
February.
Gary will
make a decision today about whether to declare DEUX ETOILES for
Huntingdon on Tuesday where it is still good, good to firm in
places with no rain forecast.
|
|
Saturday
21st May
Plenty of
horses are entered this week, as well as FREE TUSSY running for us
at Newbury this afternoon (on loan to us while IL PORTICO recovers
from injury) TOBAGO BAY is expected to run at Chepstow on Tuesday.
DEUX ETOILES' run at Huntingdon on Tuesday and LIGHTNING SPIRIT's
run at Folkestone on Thursday are dependent on some rain. RED YARN
is entered at Folkestone too and will like quick ground, as will
INTERAKT, entered at Brighton on
Thursday.
|
|
Friday
20th May
SOUTH CAPE
was disappointing at Haydock yesterday. He is fine this morning,he
is sound, has been out in the paddock and has eaten up all of his
feed so he lives to fight another day. It was a rough race and he
got knocked about a bit as he raced on the rail, and he ran very
keenly in the early stages so perhaps it just wasn't his day. He
has been entered for the Roual Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot on 15th June
(an early closing race).
TOBAGO BAY
is entered at Chepstow on the flat on Tuesday. DEUX ETOILES is
entered at Huntingdon the same day but we would need a lot of
rain before Gary would consider running him there. RED YARN and
LIGHTNING SPIRIT are today being entered at Folkestone next
Thursday.
|
|
Wednesday
18th May
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT is a non runner at Goodwood today - we had been hoping for
some rain but the ground is very quick and we don't want the filly
to hurt herself or to have an unpleasant experience with racing so
early in her career. There is a race for her at Folkestone on 26th
May and we're praying we have some rain before
then!
|
|
Tuesday
17th May
SOUTH CAPE
has been declared at Haydock on Thursday, the race is a mile
handicap and thankfully there is more rain in Liverpool than there
has been down south. The going is good with more showers forecast
this afternoon. Tadgh O'Shea rides, he has won on the horse three
times already.
FREE TUSSY
has been entered at Newbury over a mile and a quarter on Saturday
evening. While IL PORTICO is off injured, Gary Moore has kindly
loaned the owners FREE TUSSY in his
place.
Ryan Moore
visited Cisswood this morning to sit on Gary's best 2 year olds. He
rode our new SHAMARDAL colt in a piece of fast work alongside SOUTH
CAPE (rated 89) and the colt more than held his own. Ryan liked him
a lot and suggests we start off over 7 furlongs in around a month's
time.
|
|
Monday
16th May
INTERAKT
will not be running at Brighton tomorrow because she is in season,
she may go back there on 26th May. Unfortunately MOHANAD will not
be going to Goodwood on Wednesday becuase he has overreached and is
a little bit sore. He shouldn't miss much work though and will be
out again soon.
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has been declared at Goodwood on Wednesday, the going is
currently good and if it stays like that she will run - however if
the ground gets quicker Gary may declare her a non runner becuase
we do not want her to get jarred up. She did not enjoy running on
very fast ground at Lingfield recently.
|
|
Saturday
14th May
A few owners
visited Cisswood this morning to watch their horses on the gallops.
Out 3rd lot were 2 year old colt by SHAMARDAL, SOUTH CAPE,
LIGHTNING SPIRIT and RED YARN. They all looked very well, the
SHAMARDAL colt is so powerful and Philip Hide, who has been riding
him since he arrived with us, is very excited about him. He is now
only 4 weeks off a run and the partnership is almost full
already.
SOUTH CAPE
and LIGHTNING SPIRIT have entries this week and both went very
well. RED YARN really looks to have progressed from her first run
of the season last week and will be much fitter for her next
outing.
|
|
Thursday
12th May
INTERAKT has
been entered again at Brighton on Tuesday but won't be running
because she is in season. She is likely to go back to Brighton on
26th or to Goodwood on 30th.
DEUX ETOILES
was looking like a winner for a long way at Fontwell yesterday
before fading very tamely. It was only his third ever run and his
first for 6 months so we expect him to be fitter and more
competitive next time.
Neither
SOUTH CAPE or LIGHTNING SPIRIT has been declared for Saturday, both
ideally need more rain and there are plenty of other options coming
up. LIGHTNING SPIRIT has entries at Kempton on the all weather on
Tuesday and at Goodwood on Wednesday. She could also be entered at
Salisbury on Thursday.
|
|
Tuesday
10th May
INTERAKT ran
a much improved race at Brighton yesterday to finish second.
She was much happier back on the turf. She is fine this morning and
we will be looking for another race for her in a couple of weeks,
possibly back at Brighton or even at
Goodwood.
DEUX ETOILES
goes to Fontwell tomorrow for his first run back after injury. He
has every right to be a bit rusty but is very well and has been
working well.
|
|
Monday
9th May
RED YARN ran
fairly well at Lingfield on Saturday, tiring towards the end as we
expected her to do in a hot race first time out. It was promising
how she jumped out so keenly and also how she stayed nice and
straight because she can be quirky. She will come on a huge amount
for the run and we are looking forward to seeing her out again in a
couple of weeks time.
INTERAKT
runs at Brighton this afternoon, she is a course and distance
winner who has dropped right down the handicap after a couple of
disappointing runs on the all weather. She is very well and if she runs up to her
best she ought to win!
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT has been entered at Newbury and SOUTH CAPE has been entered
at Newmarket on Saturday. We're hoping a bit of rain arrives for
both horses.
|
|
Saturday
7th May
It wasn't
the best day yesterday with under par performances from our three
runners. LIGHTNING SPIRIT found the ground too quick at Lingfield
but stayed on once she met the rising ground, she is fine this
morning and will run again when we've had a bit of rain. TOBAGO BAY
was very flat, Gary thinks his last run at Sandown took more out of
him than we had thought.
INTERAKT has
been declared at Brighton on Monday and rising star Harry Bentley
rides. DEUX ETOILES has been entered at Fontwell on Wednesday,
MOHANAD is entered at Wincanton the same day back over hurdles. If
that should come too soon after his excellent second at Goodwood on
Thursday, he can go back to Goodwood on
18th.
Unfortunately IL PORTICO has a tendon injury,
Gary Moore has loaned us FREE TUSSY while our horse recovers. FREE
TUSSY runs in our colours at Plumpton
tomorrow.
|
|
Friday
6th May
Its a busy
day for us today with three runners, LIGHTNING SPIRIT runs in the 7
furlong maiden at Lingfield at 3.15pm, OR JAUNE goes in the 6.15pm
handicap hurdle at Aintree and TOBAGO BAY lines up in the 8pm
handicap hurdle at the same course. LIGHTNING SPIRIT is a really
lovely filly who has been working extremely well. We're hoping she
gets a spot in the winner's enclosure this afternoon. The same goes
for TOBAGO BAY, he is very well but has a lot of weight to carry,
however Jamie rides him very well and we're expecting a big run. OR
JAUNE has been off the track for a year and will come on for the
run, but is also very well.
|
|
Thursday
5th May
OR JAUNE and
TOBAGO BAY have been declared at Aintree tomorrow, the ground is
good, good to firm in places and rain is forecast this afternoon.
Jamie Moore rides both horses. It is a long time since OR JAUNE ran
and its great to have him back to fitness. DEUX ETOILES was not
declared, he will go to Fontwell on Wednesday.
RED YARN
goes to Lingfield on Saturday, it is a competitive race but she is
in good form and William Buick has been booked to
ride.
|
|
Wednesday
4th May
RED YARN has
been not been declared at Lingfield on Friday, Gary will declare
her for Saturday's race. LIGHTNING SPIRIT does run on Friday and
she's in fantastic form.
INTERAKT has
been entered at Brighton on Monday, the race is a 7 furlong
handicap and INTERAKT is a course and distance winner. We're hoping
she regains some form because she has been disappointing so far
this season.
|
|
Tuesday
3rd May
MOHANAD has
been declared at Goodwood on Thursday and Harry Bentley
rides.
RED YARN has
been entered at Lingfield on the last race on the card on Derby
Trial Day. She holds an entry there on the previous day too, Gary
will decide between the two races today. They are both over 7
furlongs (RED YARN is a course and distance winner), in Fridays'
race she would be near top weight, in Saturday's higher grade race
she would be near bottom weight. It wont be an easy decision for
Gary!
|
|
Saturday
30th April
It looks
like we are going to have a busy day next Friday, RED YARN and
LIGHTNING SPIRIT have been entered at Lingfield while TOBAGO BAY,
DEUX ETOILES and OR JAUNE are all entered at Aintree. We will need
a fair amount of rain to fall for DEUX ETOILE and OR JAUNE to run,
both are returning from injury and will not run on quick
ground.
John watched
LIGHTNING SPIRIT work this morning and was so impressed with her,
she is certainly one to follow.
We are
now on twitter! - follow us at
@racingHOTSR
|
|
Friday
29th April
MOHANAD has
been entered at Goodwood on Friday over 2 miles, Harry Bentley is
currently jocked up. He rode MOHANAD to victory at Kempton on 5th
April.
|
|
Thursday
28th April
DEUX ETOILES
has not been declared at Fontwell tomorrow, with the dry spell
continuing the ground is too quick to risk the horse on. He is
likely to have entries at Aintree on 6th and Fontwell on 11th May,
hopefully we will have some rain before
then.
6th May
could be a very busy day, TOBAGO BAY, DEUX ETOILES and OR JAUNE are
all possibilities for Aintree while LIGHTNING SPIRIT and RED YARN
are intended runners at Lingfield. MOHANAD could be out on 5th May
at Goodwood to try to add to his win on the flat earlier in the
month.
|
|
Monday
25th April
TOBAGO BAY
and MOHANAD ran well at Sandown on Saturday to finish fifth
and sixth in a good handicap hurdle. TOBAGO BAY lead for a
long way before being passed by Gary's other runner, a very well
handicapped horse who is rated 100 on the flat and it was a very
good effort. He is likely to go for a first win on the flat before
running over hurdles again. MOHANAD is fine after his run too, he
just wasn't quite good enough on the day but there is plenty more
fun to come and he will also be combining the flat with
hurdling.
DEUX ETOILES
will not be going to Huntingdon today because Gary is waiting for a
bit more give in the ground. He has been entered at Fontwell on
Friday.
RED YARN has
missed the cut at Ascot on Wednesday, but she will be out
soon.
|
|
Wednesday
20th April
Our game
little FRUITY O'ROONEY won his third chase of the season yesterday
- all three wins have come at Fontwell so he obviously loves the
track! Thats three wins and four seconds from seven chase starts.
We were worried that it might be one race too many, and on ground
slightly quicker than ideal but re-united with Jamie Moore he
jumped brilliantly and really battled to beat Paul Nicholl's
American Trilogy, a previous Cheltenham Festival winner. He is now
expected to have a summer holiday.
DEUX ETOILES
has been entered at Huntingdon on Monday. RED YARN is
pencilled in for a lady amateur's race at Lingfield ( the track
where she has run her best races) on 6th
May.
|
|
Tuesday
19th April
TOBAGO BAY
and MOHANAD have both been entered in the bet365 handicap hurdle at
Sandown on Saturday. While its not ideal having two runners in the
same race, the horses have a similar profile and the race is ideal
for both.
|
|
Monday
18th April
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been declared at Fontwell toworrow - its a bit of a
surprise because he ran at Chepstow 10 days ago but Gary says he's
in fantastic form and has 2 wins at Fontwell to his name already
this season.
|
|
Saturday
16th April
LIGHTNING
SPIRIT put in a very promising performance on her first run at
Newbury yesterday afternoon. In a field full of well regarded
fillies she travelled well and showed plenty of speed before tiring
in the closing stages. She will have learned a huge amount for this
run and will improve for fitness too, so we very much look forward
to seeing her out again soon.
SOUTH CAPE
runs today at Newbury (3.45, channel 4). Again its a classy race
but he is a classy horse and he has the man who knows him best,
Ryan Moore, on board. From three rides on the horse Ryan has won
twice and finished a head second, so we are hopeful of another good
performance today.
|
|
Friday
15th April
Eloise and
lots of owners will be at Newbury this afternoon to watch LIGHTNING
SPIRIT make her debut. Its a very hot race to start her off in, but
Gary thinks a lot of this filly and we can't wait to see her in
action.
We are very
excited to report that we bought a new horse at Tattersalls
Breeze-Up sales on Wednesday evening, a 2 year old colt by
Shamardal out of a Galileo mare. Shamardal was a winner of 5 group
1 races including the French 2000 Guineas and Derby. His first crop
were 2 year olds last year and included winners of 15 group races.
The horse will be trained at Cisswood by Gary Moore and 10% shares
will be available. Please contact us for further
details.
Our
broodmare AUNT RUBY has been given the all clear to visit stallion
DUTCH ART this afternoon. AUNT RUBY has already produced 5 winners
for us, plus our soon to race 2 year old IMPERIAL RUBY and a very
handsome GREEN DESERT foal.
|
|
Thursday
15th Aprilening.
SOUTH CAPE
has been declared at Newbury on Saturday, and Ryan Moore has been
booked to ride. This is fantastic news because Ryan rides the
horse brilliantly. He gets into the competitive handicap with a
nice low weight and we are looking forward to seeing him start his
season.
We had a
fantastic time at Newmarket on our owners trip yesterday, we
visited Tattersalls to view some of the horses in the Breeze Up
sales and learnt a lot about how horses are prepared for sales and
sold in the famous sales ring. Next went on to the National Stud to
see our broodmare Aunt Ruby and her Green Desert colt foal and a
parade of stallions. We then went to Newmarket's Rowley Mile course
for top class racing. John and Eloise, accompanied by several
owners went back to Tattersalls in the evening to watch the
auctions. It was a very interesting and a very busy day! Thanks to
all those who joined us.
|
|
Tuesday
12th April
FRUITY
O'ROONEY finished second at Chepstow on Saturday, thats two wins
and four seconds from six chase starts! Having won two novice
chases he has to carry a weight penalty, and this time it was just
two much for him to concede almost a stone to the winner. He came
back safe and sound.
SOUTH CAPE
has been entered in the Spring Cup at Newbury on
Saturday.
|
|
Friday
8th April
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been declared at Chepstow tomorrow - the plan had been
to go to Cheltenham on Thursday but the ground is looking like
being too quick there. Chepstow is known for its softer ground, and
in a field of just 5 it olooks like a more 'winnable' opportunity
for Fruity there. The horse is in such great form at home that Gary
is really keen to get one more run for him before his summer
holiday.
|
|
Thursday
7th April
TOBAGO BAY
doesnt go to Aintree today, he is slightly under the weather, but
should be back and ready to run at the end of the month, hopefully
for Sandown on 23rd. FRUITY O'ROONEY has been entered at Chepstow
on Saturday but he is more likely to wait for Cheltenham next week.

Tuesday
5th April
MOHANAD wins at Kempton at 15/2! He got up in
the final strides to win by a head and was part of a treble for
jockey Harry Bentley. Photos to follow
soon.
|
|
Tuesday
5th April
MOHANAD goes to Kempton today for an all weather
handicap over 2 miles. He has finished second too many times to
mention and really deserves a win. Harry Bentley rides for the
first time and takes 5lb off, and we're hoping that this makes all
the difference!
|
|
Sunday
3rd April
MOHANAD has been declared to run at Kempton on
Tuesday. ROYAL REASON worked well on Friday and will be declared
tomorrow for Wednesday's race at
Nottingham.
|
|
Friday
1st April
ROYAL
REASON has been entered at Nottingham on Wednesday over 12
furlongs. She has really pleased Mick in the last few weeks. She
will do a piece of fast work this morning and this will help Mick
to decide whether she runs on Wednesday or whether she needs
another week or two. In either case, it wont be long before she is
back on the track.
|
|
Thursday
31st March
MOHANAD is so well following his trip to
Cheltenham that rather than waiting for Sandown on 23rd April as
initially planned, he has been entered at Kempton on Tuesday. The
race is a 2 mile handicap on the all weather. Harry Bentley will
ride claiming 5lb, the horse keeps finishing second and we hope
this will help him get his nose in
front!
|
|
Wednesday
30th March
We are
likely to have runners at some of the bigger meetings in the next
month up, with TOBAGO BAY pencilled in for a £40,000 hurdle at day
one of the National meeting, FRUITY O'ROONEY set to go to
Cheltenham on 13th and LIGHTNING SPIRIT and SOUTH CAPE likely to
run at Newbury on 15th and 16th. For the latest news on all of our
horses please see the 'April News' page of this
website.
|
|
Friday
25th March
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has not been declared at Newbury tomorrow as the ground
will be too quick. We expect him to have one more run this season,
there are races for him at Stratford, Bangor and Cheltenham in the
next few weeks.
Our
next Owners trip has been extended to include a visit to the
Tattersalls Breeze Up sales as well as the National Stud and the
Craven meeting at Newmarket Racecourse. The trip takes place on
13th April and at just £35 per place it is great
value.
|
|
Thursday
24th March
Unfortunately FRUITY O'ROONEY will not be going
to France - it looks a very hot race and while it would be fun to
go to Auteuil with a runner, it is a long and expensive trip if you
can't be confident of having a winning chance. He holds an
entry at Newbury on Saturday, a 3 1/4 mile handicap chase but will
only run if there is some rain.
|
|
Tuesday
22nd March
TOBAGO
BAY has been declared at Haydock tomorrow for the 2 1/2 mile
handicap hurdle.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been entered at Auteuil on Sunday but the race looks
very hot and it is unlikely that he will run. He has been
given an alternative entry at Newbury on Saturday, a 3 1/4 mile
handicap chase.
LIGHTNING SPIRIT is in flying form, Gary Moore
thinks she is going to be a very nice filly. She will be ready to
run as soon as the turf season begins and we're expecting good
things of her.
|
|
Monday
21st March
TOBAGO
BAY has not been declared at Kempton tomorrow - Gary doesn't want
to run him under a big weight. Gary will decide later today
whether to send the horse to Haydock
tomorrow.
INTERAKT didn't run very well at Lingfield on
Saturday. She didn't seem to like the all weather surface at all
and Joe is going to wait for the turf season to begin before
running her again.
IL
PORTICO is now back at Cisswood. He looks fantastic and is full of
beans, Gary is very pleased with how much he has strengthened
up.
|
|
Friday
18th March
In
addition to his entry at Kempton on Tuesday, TOBAGO BAY has also
been entered over hurdles at Haydock on Wednesday and on the all
weather at Kempton on Thursday. Assuming it doesn't rain too much,
he will run over hurdles on Tuesday or
Wednesday.
INTERAKT goes to Lingfield tomorrow, she is also
entered at Kempton on the all weather on
Wednesday.
|
|
Thursday
17th March
MOHANAD ran a better race at Cheltenham than his
odds of 100-1 suggested he would, finishing midfield in the Coral
Cup behind Carlito Brigante. He travelled well and jumped well and
jockey Jamie Goldstein reported that the course (very well watered)
was slightly softer than ideal for our horse. All the owners had a
great day out though and it was fantastic to have a festival
runner. Unfortunately TOBAGO BAY missed the cut by just one for
Friday's race so he is expected to go to Kempton on Tuesday
instead.
INTERAKT has
been declared at Lingfield on Saturday and will be ridden for the
first time by 5lb claimer Martin
Harley.
|
|
Tuesday
15th March
We are
delighted that MOHANAD has made the cut for the Coral Cup tomorrow.
As always it will be a very competitive race and he is a big price
but he is in great form. It is not often you get the chance to have
a runner in one of the most famous handicaps in the jump racing
calendar, and all of the horse's owners are hugely
excited!
INTERAKT has been entered at Lingfield on
Saturday. She has done well since her disappointing performance at
Kempton and we are expecting a better
run.
|
|
Monday
14th March
We had
a lovely stable visit at Cisswood on Saturday morning. We saw
lots of our horses in action, the photos below were taken by one of
our owners, Jan Luthman.
|
|

JUPITER STORM, our 2 year old colt by
Galileo. He has settled well at Cisswood and is fairly sensible for
a 2 year old colt!
|

LIGHTNING SPIRIT is a three year old half
sister to THE SHUFFLER. She is due to have her first race in a few
weeks.
|
|

SOUTH CAPE
leads RED YARN
|

RED YARN and
LIGHTNING SPIRIT doing a piece of fast
work.

TOBAGO BAY (far side) under Josh Moore and
SOUTH CAPE (nearside)
|

SOUTH CAPE at the age of 8 still flies up
the gallops like a 2 year old!
|
|
Monday
14th March
Sheena West
predicts Mohanad has a 50/50 chance of getting into the Coral Cup
on Mednesday, we need 22 to come out at declarations tomorrow.
Unfortunately it looks unlikely that Tobago Bay will get in to the
Conditional Jockeys race on Friday, but we're keeping our fingers
crossed!
THE SHUFFLER
is much better and is expected to return to work
today.
|
|
Tuesday 8th
March
THE SHUFFLER
is unliely to run at Kempton tomorrow, unfortunately he has knocked
himself and is lame. We are hopeful it will clear up in a few days
and he will be out again soon.
|
|
Monday 7th
March
Its been a
great week with wins for Fruity and Tobago Bay plus a second from
Mohanad. Our next runner will be THE SHUFFLER on Wednesday evening
at Kempton and we're hoping the good form continues! This will be
THE SHUFFLER's first outing of the season and his first start on
the all weather since he was a 2 year old but he is in very good
form at home and we are hopeful of another big
run.
TOBAGO BAY
was in the news after his win because Jamie Moore received a ban
for marking the horse with his whip. Gary tells us all marks on the
horse had gone by the time he got home, the horse ate up all his
feed, had a good roll in the paddock and is absolutely fine.
|
|
Saturday 5th
March
TOBAGO BAY
won his fourth race this afternoon at Newbury! Once rated 139 our
three time novice hurdle winner has lost his form since 2 placed
efforts last May. However he ran a better race on the all weather
last time and has dropped to a more reasonable mark. Jamie Moore
gave him a great ride, the horse loves to lead and he led almost
the whole race, jumping slickly and racing keenly. He holds an
entry in the conditional jockeys race at Kempton in 2 weeks
time.
DEUX ETOILES
and RED YARN both worked nicely this morning and are expected to be
ready to race around the end of the
month.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY is very well following his win at Fontwell last Sunday.
With two wins and a second from four runners its been a good week
for Heart of the South Racing!
|
|
Friday 4th
March
TOBAGO BAY
has been declared at Newbury on Saturday, the going is soft, good
to soft in places and the forecast is dry so we hope it will be
quick enough for him Jamie Moore rides for the first
time.
THE SHUFFLER
has been entered at Kempton next
evening.
|
|
Wednesday
2nd March
MOHANAD ran
a great first race of the season at Lingfield yesterday. We weren't
expecting him to be fit so early in the year and were not sure what
to expect but he looked brilliant and ran very well. He finished
2nd (again!) but it was very encouraging considering he was in a
field only 2 months ago and he will now be aimed at the Coral Cup
at Cheltenham on 16th March. Off his current mark of 129 it is
touch and go whether he will get in, but he would have scraped in
last year and in 2007 and 2008 so we are
hopeful.
TOBAGO BAY
is likely to run at Newbury on Saturday as the forecast is
dry.
OR JAUNE and
IL PORTICO are expected back at Cisswood next week. OR JAUNE has
been on a long slow recovery from injury but is now in good shape.
IL PORTICO has been on holiday at Framfield and is particularly
full of beans.
Good news
too of DEUX ETOILES, he has been back in fast work for a few weeks
and is obviously in good form because Gary has been working him
with his good horse HARRY TRICKER.
THE SHUFFLER
will be entered tomorrow for a mile handicap at Kempton next
Wednesday.
|
|
Monday 28th
February
What a
fantastic performance from FRUITY O'ROONEY and Jamie Moore
yesterday to win the valuable novice chase at Fontwell! He really
deserved this, having come up against very nice horses to finish
second on his last three outings. Pictures will follow
soon.
MOHANAD
makes his seasonal reappearance at Lingfield tomorrow, he is likely
to need the run but this will let Sheena know whether he is likely
to be ready for Cheltenham. INTERAKT lines up at Kempton on
Wednesday evening.
|
|
Saturday
26th February
Our two year
old GALILEO colt now has a name - his owners voted yesterday and
JUPITER STORM was the winning
suggestion.
JUPITER
STORM is now at Cisswood in the care of Gary Moore. Gary is very
pleased with the way the horse settled in and behaved when he
arrived, and is even more pleased with the way the horse moves on
the gallops. He looks a very classy
individual.
|
|
Friday 25th
February
TOBAGO BAY
was not declared this morning for tomorrow's race at Kempton,
frustratingly the ground is still too soft. Gary feels this horse
can win soon given the right conditions over hurdles or on the all
weather, so it makes sense to wait for the right opportunity.
FRUITY O'ROONEY goes to Fontwell on Sunday, Gary was worried about
two of the Nicholls horses entered but neither was declared. Its
still a hot race but our horse is in good
form.
INTERAKT has
been entered for her first race of the season, a mile handicap at
Kempton next Wednesday.
Two of our
horses have been given provisional Cheltenham entries, MOHANAD in
the Coral Cup and TOBAGO BAY in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys
hurdle.
|
|
Wednesday
23rd February
TOBAGO BAY
is entered over hurdles at Kempton on Saturday, we are hoping the
weather dries out for him. FRUITY O'ROONEY is entered at Fontwell
on Sunday. Its only 2 weeks since he ran a great race to finish
second over 3 1/4 miles at Plumpton but he is full of beans again
and Gary is keen to run him if the ground is suitably soft. We
still hope to send him to Auteuil in late March where we think he
would be more favourably handicapped.
MOHANAD
owners met Eloise at Sheena West's yard this morning to watch their
horse work. Apparently he looks fantastic and Sheena is now
considering sending him to Cheltenham for the Coral Cup. He could
have a prep run on the all weather at Lingfield on 1st or 4th
March.
|
|
Friday 18th
February
TOBAGO BAY
ran a good race to finish 5th at Lingfield on Friday, and we feel
he could have been even closer with a slightly different ride. He
has come out of the race in good shape and if the weather and track
conditions improve in time will go to Kempton for the 2 mile 5
furlong hurdle on 26th February.
It will be a
busy morning tomorrow with owners of LIGHTNING SPIRIT, RED YARN and
THE SHUFFLER joining us at Cisswood for a stable
visit.
|
|
Wednesday
16th February
AUNT RUBY
safely delivered a bay colt foal by GREEN DESERT in the early hours
of this morning! Mare and foal are both very
well.
|
|
Tuesday 15th
February
FRUITY
O'ROONEY ran a great race to finish second to Alderluck at Plumpton
yesterday. Carrying 6lb more than the winner yet handicapped 2lb
worse, the two raced neck and neck for 3 1/4 miles before
Alderluck's advantage told in the final yards. Fruity jumped
brilliantly and after 3 brave seconds in a row, really deserves to
get his head in front.
TOBAGO BAY
has been entered at Wincanton on Saturday but won't go because the
ground will be too soft. He runs at Lingfield
tomorrow.
SOUTH CAPE
is back at Cisswood and looks a picture of health. DEUS ETOILES did
his first piece of fast work this morning and went very
well.
|
|
Monday14th
February
FRUITY
O'ROONEY runs today in the 5 runner novice chase at Plumpton.
Although he is at a weight disadvantage with likely favourite
Alderluck, we feel our horse is a better jumper and is certainly
more consistent than his rival. The 3 1/2 mile trip and the heavy
ground are also in Fruity's favour and we're looking forward to a
very good performance.
|
|
Friday 11th
February
TOBAGO BAY
has been entered on the all weather at Lingfield on Wednesday 16th
February, while we would like to run him over hurdles the going is
unsuitably soft. He is entered at Plumpton on Monday but there has
been very heavy rain, and Gary is concerned that Wincanton next
weekend will be too soft aswell.
|
|
Thursday
10th February
SOUTH CAPE
has been entered in the William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster on 2nd
April. With his current mark of 89 he should get into this race or
the Spring Mile, which is for horses that don't make the cut for
the Lincoln. SOUTH CAPE is in great form and will be back at
Cisswood in the next few days.
|
|
Wednesday
9th February
TOBAGO BAY
and FRUITY O'ROONEY are both entered at Plumpton on Monday. Fruity
is the more likely runner, the 3 1/4 mile chase on soft ground is
right up his street! The ground probably wont be ideal for Tobago
Bay, and Gary has found a race for him at Wincanton on Saturday
19th, where he expects the ground to be
better.
|
|
Friday 4th
February
RED YARN,
THE SHUFFLER and LIGHTNING SPIRIT owners are all invited to
Cisswood on Saturday 19th February to see their horses in action on
the gallops. All have settled back into training well and Gary will
gradually step up their work in the coming
weeks.
The GALILEO
colt will move to Ciswood this month too, and his owners are
invited to the yard on Saturday
26th.
TOBAGO BAY
and FRUITY O'ROONEY are ready to run again. We're waiting for
better ground for TOBAGO BAY, but possibilities include Plumpton on
14th Feb or Kempton on 26th. Fruity has options at Newbury on 12th,
Wincanton on 13th or Plumpton on 14th. He could also go over to
France in March to run at Auteuil, which would be very
exciting!
|
|
Friday 28th
January
The flat
season is now on the horizon and all of our flat horses are
beginning their preparation for the season ahead. RED YARN and THE
SHUFFLER are now both back with Gary Moore and are cantering.
MOHANAD is also cantering at Sheena West's Lewes yard, and SOUTH
CAPE is doing his roadwork at Framfield. Il Portico is also in the
early stages of road work.
INTERAKT
went very well in her racecourse gallop at Kempton on Tuesday, she
is likely to have one more piece of racecourse work before having
her first race of the season.
One share
has just become available in our 9 time winner SOUTH CAPE. please
see the 'shares for sale' page for more
details.
|
|
Monday 24th
January
INTERAKT is
doing very well at her new home with trainer Joe Tuite and is well
on her way to making a return to the course. She is expected to run
on the all weather in February or March and for this reason Joe
will be taking her to Kempton tomorrow morning for a racecourse
gallop. This will help in terms of her fitness, it will also give
her a chance to get used to the all weather surface and prepare her
mentally. INTERAKT owners are welcome to join us, we will be
meeting at 9.45am.
|
|
Tuesday 18th
January
FRUITY
O'ROONEY and TOBAGO BAY returned safe and well from their races on
Saturday. FRUITY O'ROONEY ran another very good race to finish
second, but the race was marred by the fatal fall of the likely
winner Peveril. TOBAGO BAY hated the ground at Kempton, we will be
looking for better ground and a longer trip next
time.
|
|
Saturday
15th January
We have two
runners today. FRUITY O'ROONEY goes to Warwick for a four runner
novice chase. Its been touch and go because the track has been
waterlogged, but the meeting has been given the green light this
morning. Its only 8 days since Fruity's last run but he is in great
form and he loves his racing.HE
TOBAGO BAY
runs at Kempton this afternoon. The going will be slightly softer
than ideal but the horse needs a run. His target in the totesport
trophy at Newbury on 12th Feb, a £120,000 handicap that Gary has a
great record in.
|
|
Tuesday 11th
January
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has come out of his race at Fontwell on Friday so well
that he has been given an unexpected entry at Warwick this
Saturday. TOBAGO BAY has been entered at Kempton on the same
day.
Fruity has
been given a chase handicap mark of 130, the same as his hurdle
RATING.
THE SHUFFLER
is now back at Cisswood. He has been walking and trotting at
Framfield for the last month and is now ready to be stepped up in
work. He looks fantastic and its lovely to have him back at the
yard.
|
|
Monday 10th
January
FRUITY
O'ROONEY ran a gallant race at Fontwell on Friday to finish 6
lengths second to a classy horse in QUANTITATIVEEASING. This horse
was very impressive and has received some flattering quotes for
Cheltenham, so our horse did well to get so close, giving the
winner 7lb. He jumped very well again and there is plenty to come
from this horse. Fruity came home in good shape, we will see
whether the handicapper gives him a mark tomorrow before planning
his next run.
TOBAGO BAY
was entered at Sandown on Saturday but Gary felt that the ground
was unsuitably soft and that the race was coming a week to soon. He
will today be entered for a race at Kempton next
Saturday.
|
|
Thursday 6th
January
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been declared at Fontwell tomorrow. It is a small but
classy field of four, his rivals include Quantitiveeasing and Straw
Bear. The going is currently soft with more rain forecast, so
conditions will be in his favour as he tries for his second chase
win.
We will be
holding stable visits to see our Imperial Dancer colt at Mick
Channon's, and Interakt at Joe Tuite's, on Saturday morning. Please
contact us if you would like to join
us.
|
|
Wednesday
5th January
TOBAGO BAY
has been entered at Sandown on Saturday in the 2 mile 1/2 furlong
handicap hurdle.
|
|
Sunday 2nd
January
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been entered in the 2 mile 6 furlong novice chase at
Fontwell on Friday. Fontwell was the scene of his thrilling chase
win in October, the extra 2 furlongs this time will
be in
his favour.
TOBAGO BAY
is absolutely fine following being brought down at Taunton. Gary
will see what the handicapper does with his mark on Tuesday before
making any further plans.
|
|
Thursday
30th December
TOBAGO BAY
was brought down at the 7th at Taunton today. Luckily he was
quickly up on his feet and Gary tells us that he is absolutely
fine, there isn't a mark on him. A big relief to all
concerned!
|
|
Thursday
23rd December
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been declared for the Feltham Chase at Kempton on
Boxing Day - this is a top novice chase at one of the biggest
meetings of the year on a card featuring the King George, so we are
desperately hoping the meeting survives the
weather!
|
|
Tuesday 21st
December
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been entered in the Grade 1 Feltham Novice Chase at
Kempton on Boxing Day. While it is going to be a very hot race, it
is likely to cut up to quite a small field and Gary feels that
Fruity can give a very good account of himself back over 3 miles.
Now it is just a case of waiting to see if the weather improves so
that the meeting can go ahead. If the meeting is lost there are
races in the next week at Leicester and Exeter for him, but Gary
would love to see him run in the
Feltham.
|
|
Sunday 19th
December
TOBAGO BAY
went to Exeter this week for his first run after a long break. We
knew he would need the outing, and he got tired in the end but he
jumped very well and raced with his old enthusiasm so we look
forward to more success with him. He is entered on the all weather
this week, this was a fallback option in case Exeter didn't go
ahead and he is unlikely to run. Further updates
soon......
|
|
Wednesday
15th December
TOBAGO BAY
goes to Exeter tomorrow, weather permitting! Our plans to get him a
run have been thwarted so far by the cold spell but Gary is very
eager to run him now. He will come on for fitness and we are not
expecting a win yet but it will be great to see him back on the
track.
Interest has
been huge in our Galileo colt and the partnership is now full. His
preparation at Robbie Brisland's pre training yard is going well
and he is due to be ridden for the first time this week. Ken, our
very handsome IMPERIAL DANCER colt has now moved to Mick Channon's
yard to begin the next stage of his career. Mick likes the horse a
lot, and says he expects the horse to be ready in the early part of
the season. Exciting news!
|
|
Friday 10th
December
Unfortunately Saturday's meeting at Lingfield
has been abandoned.
|
|
Tuesday 7th
December
The forecast
is improving for later in the week and we are hopeful that
Saturday's meeting at Lingfield will go ahead. TOBAGO BAY and
FRUITY O'ROONEY both hold entries and if the meeting does go ahead
both horses will run. Gary's horses haven't missed any work despite
the freezing temperatures and both horses are in good form. TOBAGO
BAY will run in the 2 1/2 mile handicap hurdle for horses rated
0-145, he is in great form but is likely to need the outing as he
hasn't run for a while. FRUITY O'ROONEY goes for the grade 2
December Novices Chase.
|
|
Monday 6th
December
TOBAGO BAY
and FRUITY O'ROONEY will today be entered for Saturday's meeting at
Lingfield. Details to follow.....
|
|
Friday 3rd
December
Unfortunately Sandown has been abandoned so we
will have to look for another race for TOBAGO BAY. Our next runner
is likely to be FRUITY O'ROONEY at Lingfield next
Saturday.
Interest has
been very high in our yearling GALILEO colt. Reserve your share now
if you don't want to miss out!
|
|
Thursday 2nd
December
TOBAGO BAY
has been declared at Sandown on Saturday and they haven't abandoned
the meeting yet! A further inspection is called for 3pm this
afternoon.
|
|
Tuesday 30th
November
TOBAGO BAY
has been entered at Sandown on Saturday so we're all hoping for an
improvement in the weather! The horse missed his intended run last
week because Gary thought he wasn't quite fit enough but he has
done two more pieces of fast work and Gary now thinks he is
ready.
At the
moment the ground is partially frozen at Sandown and with so many
race meetings abandoned it doesn't look good.
|
|
Thursday
25th November
TOBAGO BAY
was due to run at Newbury today but was not declared - Gary Moore
thinks he needs a couple more pieces of work before he wil be able
to do himself justice. Expect to see hm out in around 10 days
time.
We have a
new horse! He is a smashing yearling colt by supersire and Derby
winner GALILEO, out of a broodmare who recently sold for 900,000 US
dollars. He holds an entry in the 2010 Derby and is the best bred
horse we have had yet! He will be in training with Gary Moore. It
will be an exciting flat season for us because we also have the
classy looking IMPERIAL DANCER colt 'Ken' with Mick Channon. This
colt is a half brother to SOUTH CAPE, RELATIVE ORDER and RED YARN.
Please see the 'Shares For Sale' page for more
details.
|
|
Tuesday 23rd
November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY ran a very good race at Haydock on Saturday in the big 3m
handicap hurdle. Once again he jumped and travelled beautifully but
unfortunately is not a well handicapped horse over hurdles, and he
faded in the last couple of furlongs. However he came back in great
shape and that should leave him spot on for the 3 mile Grade 2
novice chase at Lingfield on 11th
December.
IL PORTICO
did not run so well - Gary thinks he is tired after a long season
(he had plenty of runs on the flat for Mick Channon before he came
to us) and will benefit from a few weeks
holiday.
|
|
Thursday
18th November
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been declared at Haydock on Saturday, Andrew
Glassonbury rides him for the first
time.
|
|
Wednesday
17th November
TOBAGO BAY
continues to please his new trainer Gary Moore and is likely to
have his first run back next Thursday 25th at Newbury in a
conditional jockeys race over 2 miles, when he will be ridden by
Josh Moore.
|
|
Tuesday 16th
November
IL PORTICO
was entered at Folkestone today but wasn't declared - the ground is
heavy and not suitable for our horse. He has instead been entered
at Huntingdon on Saturday and we will keep our fingers crossed that
the rain stops.
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has also been entered on Saturday at Haydock and is
expected to run. His target is the fixed brush hurdle, worth
£75,000 so it is going to be a tough race. We think our horse will
jump these bigger hurdles well. He won over fences last time and we
don't want to risk getting another penalty before his target race
at Lingfield on 11th December and it is for this reason that he
will be back over hurdles this week.
|
|
Friday 12th
November
We will be
holding a stable visit to see TOBAGO BAY at Gary Moore's yard at
Cisswood tomorrow. It will be great to see him in
action.
We will be
holding another visit on 11th December for owners of INTERAKT at
her new home at Shefford Valley Stables near Lambourn, where she is
in the care of our newest trainer Joe Tuite. INTERAKT is nearing
the end of her holiday, she will shortly start road work with the
intention of having her ready to run on the all weather in February
or March. Please let us know if you would like to join us on this
visit.
|
|
Thursday
11th November
IL PORTICO
has been entered at Folkestone on Tunesday (16th) but with the
weather as it is at the moment it looks fairly unlikely that he
will run. He has always looked like a better ground horse, and it
is likely that he will bypass this race, maybe heading to
Huntingdon on Saturday 20th instead.
|
|
Tuesday 9th
November
It is going
to be a fairly quiet week at Heart of the South with no horses
scheduled to run until 20th (Fruity O'Rooney at Haydock and IL
PORTICO at Huntingdon.
TOBAGO BAY
did his first piece of fast work upsides another horse this morning
since returning to training. He is now in training with Gary Moore
because we felt he needed a change of scenery. It looks like his
owners made the right decision because he looks really well and
moved beautifully this morning.
Unfortunately DEUX ETOILES returned home lame
after his race at Sandown on Saturday. This certainly explains his
lacklustre performance and we hope to have him back to full health
soon.

|
Friday 5th
November
DEUX ETOILES
has been declared at Sandown tomorrow for what will be his first
run over hurdles and his first run for Heart of the South. He is a
beautiful big horse and Gary has very high hopes for him in the
future. He is still a big baby though and this is very much an
educational run, Gary does not expect him to be sharp enough to win
yet. Next time will be a different story
though!
Our other
juvenile hurdler IL PORTICO is fine after last week's run at
Fontwell. His performance could have been better (he finished
fourth) but can be explained by the fact that he took a long time
to settle and consequently had little left in the tank at the end
of the race. He is likely to go to Huntingdon next, on 20th
November.
|
|
Monday 1st
November
DEUX ETOILES
will be entered today for his first hurdle race at Sandown on
Saturday. Gary is very pleased with the progress he has been making
at home and expects him to come on a lot more for his first run. A
horse's first race over hurdles is all about the horse getting a
good experience and learning to jump at speed, and he will learn a
huge amount for this race. The horse is particularly inexperienced
because he has only ever raced once on the flat. He is a very laid
back character though, so shouldn't find the experience too
daunting!
FRUITY
O'ROONEY has come out of his race at Fontwell last week so well
that Gary is now talking about giving him another run before his
scheduled race at Lingfield on 11th December. He intends to send
the horse to Haydock on 20th November for the £75,000 fixed brush
hurdle which will be a fantastic race to have a runner
in!

Friday 29th
October
SOUTH CAPE
won his ninth race on Wednesday at Nottingham under a brilliant
ride from Ryan Moore. Ryan knows the horse so well and timed his
run to perfection. For the horse to win this race for the second
year running, off a rating 7lb higher than last year was a massive
achievement. He has now won over £110,000 in prize
money!

Wednesday
27th October
ROYAL REASON
and IL PORTICO both run tomorrow. ROYAL REASON is running at
Lingfield against her own sex for the first time after coming up
against nice colts on her two previous outings. It will be her
first run on the all weather too, but Mick doesn't expect this to
inconvenience her.
IL PORTICO
goes for the 2 1/4 mile juvenile hurdle at Fontwell. We expect this
to suit him much better than the sharp 2 miles at Kempton last
time.
We are
hopeful of a big run from SOUTH CAPE this afternoon at
Nottingham.
|
|
Monday 25th
October
We are
delighted that Ryan Moore is available to ride SOUTH CAPE at
Nottingham on Wednesday. Ryan really gets the best out of the
horse, at a time of year that he is at his best, so despite having
to carry top weight we expect another big
run.
MOHANAD
didn't enjoy the tacky ground at Chepstow on Saturday. To win a
race as hot as that you need everything to fall right and Jamie did
the right thing to pull the horse up when he started to struggle.
It has been a long season for MOHANAD and he will now have a
break.
|
|
Saturday
23rd October
We are all excited about seeing MOHANAD
contest the Silver Trophy Hurdle at Chepstow this afternoon. He is
a big price at 28-1 for such a consistent horse and while it is a
very competitive race, he is expected to run very
well.
SOUTH CAPE has entries at Leicester and
Nottingham this week. He is likely to head for Nottingham on
Wednesday for the race he won last
year.
ROYAL REASON has been entered at Lingfield
on Thursday, and IL PORTICO is set to run at Fontwell the same
afternoon.
|
|
Saturday
23rd October
INTERAKT will be trained by a new trainer
next season! Joe Tuite, Mick Channon's Head Lad, is starting
training on his own and will be putting a new regime into place for
our filly. It has been a year of highs and lows for INTERAKT, with
a win and some good placed efforts but also a few disappointments.
Joe plans to give her a bit of a break and then bring her back for
an all weather campaign in the new year, and is convinced he can
win with her.
|
|
Friday 22nd
October
What a fantastic win from FRUITY O'ROONEY
at Fontwell on Wednesday! He could not have jumped better and
battled on well over a trip short of his best to delight a huge
crowd of owners. Pictures and a video of the race are now on the
website. He is likely to head to Lingfield on 11th December for a
grade 2 novice chase over 3 miles.
|
|
Wednesday
20th October
MOHANAD has ben entered for the £30,000
listed Silver Trophy Hurdle at Chepstow on Saturday. This has been
his target for a long time and the horse does seem to have filled
out and got stronger since his last race over hurdles. Despite
being bought for hurdling he has run his last few races on the flat
(always running a great race and finishing in the winners
enclosure!) but we are all looking forward to seeing over hurdles
again.
SOUTH CAPE has been entered at Leicester
on Monday. He went lame just before his last scheduled run but
luckily it was only a minor infection and he is back in great
health.
The Racing Post ran a Gary Moore stable
tour article recently, feature positive reports on FRUITY O'ROONEY,
IL PORTICO and particularly DEUX ETOILES - he is due to have his
first run for us at Sandown on 6th
November.

Tuesday 19th
October
EYE FOR THE GIRLS goes to Yarmouth today
with conditions in his favour. The race is a 6 furlong handicap and
there has been plenty of rain so the 20-1 looks too big a price. It
is possibly his final run because at the end of this season he will
be sold and we hope he can go out in
style!
FRUITY O'ROONEY goes to Fontwell tomorrow
for his first chase. He faces only 4 rivals and has superior
hurdles form so we expect a good run. He will come on for the
experience though, both in terms of fitness and for the fencing
practise. Its very exciting to see him begin his chasing career
because we have always expected him to make a great
chaser.
Unfortunately our 2 year old filly
LIGHTNING SPIRIT has injured her pelvis and is currently on 6 weeks
box rest. Its disappointing because Gary had high hopes of her this
season but we do expect her to back back and ready to race in the
spring.
|
|
Thursday
14th October
FRUITY O'ROONEY has today been entered for
his first race over fences! He has been entered for a beginner's
chase at Fontwell next Wednesday, however there are also races for
him at Fakenham and Stratford in the following days so we don't
know yet which race he will go for.
EYE FOR THE GIRLS has been entered at
Yarmouth next Tuesday and we are hoping he gets into the race. We
had expected ROYAL REASON to run at the same meeting but Mick
Channon thinks she needs 10 days more before running again. There
is another race at Yarmouth the following week for
her.

|
Tuesday 12th
October
What a gallant effort by MOHANAD at
Goodwood on Sunday, its such a shame that once again he came up
against one a liitle bit too good. He has a fantastic record for us
of finishing in the prize money for each of his 14 (I think!) runs
and really is the most game and consistent horse. No horse in
training deserves a win more, and we hope it wont be long to wait.
He goes back over hurdles at Chepstow on
23rd.
The jumps horses with Gary Moore all
looked well at a stable visit on Saturday, and IL PORTICO, our
newest horse, has been given an entry at Kempton on Sunday. Gary is
very pleased with him and it will be exciting to see him out over
hurdles for the first time.
GOODWOOD STARLIGHT has been entered over
hurdles at the same meeting. He has lost his way a bit on the flat
recently and we hope a spin over hurdles will reignite his
enthusiasm. This looks a fairly tough race and if he doesn't run
here is likely to be out elsewhere over hurdles
soon.
|
|
Saturday 9th
October
Good news! MOHANAD has made a dramatic
recovery from a sore foot and will line up at Goodwood tomorrow,
where he surely has a great chance.
|
|
Friday 8th
October
MOHANAD has been declared for Goodwoods 2
mile handicap on Sunday but unfortunately a small problem with a
foot came to light yesterday. He seems ok this morning but Sheena
will make a late decision on his participation to make sure he is
100%.

|
Thursday 7th
October
THE SHUFFLER ran at Windsor on Monday
evening, travelling well for a long way but struggling in the
closing stages. The ground was probably too soft for him but it
also seems that he is feeling the effects of a long season. It has
been a great season for him with two wins and a further four placed
finishes.
RED YARN has finished for the season too.
The ground has gone against her and her coat is starting to look a
bit wintry, a sign she has had enough for the year, so Gary has
suggested calling it a day. He has high hopes of her for next year
and it seems unnecessary to run her when she could be slightly
below her best, when we have so much to look forward to. Both
horses will now wind down for a couple of weeks at Cisswood before
going off for a winter holiday.
|
|
Wednesday
6th October
MOHANAD has been entered at Goodwood on
Sunday for the 2 mile handicap for jump jockeys. He showed how well
he was with his excellent second at Salisbury last week. Sheena and
Jamie Goldstein believe the extra 2 furlongs can only help him so
they are confident of another big run from our very consistent
horse. He will then go to back over hurdles at Chepstow on
23rd.
SOUTH CAPE
has been entered at the same meeting. He will not run if the ground
is heavy. He will be top weight so if he does run, Harry Bentley is
likely to ride and claim 7lb. |
|
Monday 4th
October
EYE FOR THE
GIRLS and ROYAL REASON have been declared at Nottingham on
Wednesday. EYE FOR THE GIRLS has had a nice long break from racing
and should have the conditions to suit because he prefers give in
the ground. A race at Yarmouth later in the month was pencilled in
for ROYAL REASON but she is so well that Mick has decided to send
her to Nottingham too. It will be interesting to see how she copes
with the softer going but she is sure to enjoy the long trip (a
mile).
THE SHUFFLER
ran well for a long way today at Windsor before struggling in the
final furlong on very soft ground. He is likely to have run his
last race of the season but will be back in the
spring!

|
Wednesday
29th September
Sheena West
has had a couple of mixed days with her HEART OF THE SOUTH horses
this week, with a disappointing run from GOODWOOD STARLIGHT on
Tuesday followed by a fantastic run from MOHANAD at Salisbury
yesterday. GOODWOOD STARLIGHT is his own worst enemy, definitely
not putting his best foot forward at Brighton, and the owners have
discussed sending him hurdling to see if giving him something to
think about in a race might do the trick. MOHANAD is always the
bridesmaid, finishing second yet again but there is nothing
ungenuine about him, he just seems to be unlucky. He is in
fantastic form at the moment, he looked so well in the Parade Ring
and seems to be getting bigger and stronger all the time. He is
likely to go to Goodwood for 2 miles on the flat on 10th October ,
followed by a trip to Chepstow on 23rd for the Silver Trophy
Hurdle.
Its been
quiet for news of EYE FOR THE GIRLS and INTEAKT recently but both
should be on the track once more before the end of the season. EYE
FOR THE GIRLS has had a break from racing after a very busy spell
but has plenty of options this month. INTERAKT has been enjoying
some 'paddock time' alongside training to try to reignite her
earlier good form and is expected to have one more run this
season.
|
|
Wednesday
29th September
RED YARN and THE SHUFFLER were due to run
at Nottingham today but unfortunately neither will run. There has
been heavy rain at Noottingham and very soft ground will be
unsuitable for both horses. THE SHUFFLER has entered at Windsor on
Monday and is likely to run there instead.
MOHANAD goes to Salisbury this afternoon,
soft ground isn't ideal for this horse either so we will be
watching the weather throughout the afternoon. If the ground wasn't
too soft we would fancy him to run a big race because Sheena has
him in fantastic form.
|
|
Monday 27th
September
SOUTH CAPE put in a brilliant performance
at Ascot yesterday to finish second, beaten just a head by the
gambled on favourite. Ryan Moore gave him a great ride and the
horse seems to really like the track. He is at his best at this
time of the year on slightly softer ground and we're hopeful of
another win from him before the end of the
season
GOODWOOD STARLIGHT runs at Brighton
tomorrow in a valuable 12f handicap. He coped so well with the
similar track at Epsom and we expect a much improved run from his
last effort at Lingfield when he was later found to have inflamed
airways.
RED YARN and THE SHUFFLER have been
declared for the same race at Nottingham on Wednesday. One horse
likes quick ground and one prefers soft, if the going is good both
horses will line up. Both are three year old milers and they are
rated just 3lb apart so its surprising they haven't met on the
track before!
MOHANAD goes to Salisbury on Wednesday for
a handicap over a mile and six furlongs. He ran a cracker to finish
second over a mile and a half last time and the extra 2 furlongs
are sure to be in his favour. He has a great record on the flat for
us but his ultimate target is a valuable handicap hurdle at either
Cheltenham or Chepstow in October.
|
|
Friday 24th
September
We were delighted this morning to find out
that Ryan Moore is available to ride SOUTH CAPE at Ascot on Sunday!
SOUTH CAPE's last win came at Ascot with Ryan on board (in April)
and we're hoping this bodes well for another great run from the
horse. Our 8 time winner has been unlucky on his last couple of
starts but he is fit and well (behaving like a 2 year old on the
gallops!) and conditions on Sunday look ideal for the
horse.
|
|
Thursday
23rd September
We will be holding a stable visit at
Cisswood at 9.30 on Tuesday morning (28/9) for anyone interested in
seeing our new horses IL PORTICO and the STORMING HOME filly in
action. For more details of these horses please see the 'Shares for
Sale' page. Anyone interested in joining us would be most welcome,
please call or email to book your
place.

Wednesday
22nd September
After a fairly quiet spell for runners
over the last couple of weeks things look set to get busier soon.
SOUTH CAPE has an entry at Ascot (the scene of his last win!) on
Sunday and several horses have possible targets next week. GOODWOOD
STARLIGHT's target is a valuable handicap over a mile and a half at
Brighton on Tuesday. MOHANAD is being aimed at a mile and six
furlong handicap at Salisbury on Wednesday and there is a race at
Nottingham the same day for either RED YARN or THE SHUFFLER. If the
ground is on the quicker side it will suit RED YARN, if it is
softer it will suit THE SHUFFLER. New horses the STORMING HOME
filly and IL PORTICO are fit and ready to go soon
too!
|
|
Sunday 19th
September
ROYAL REASON had her first run at Newbury
yesterday. She is a tall filly and still has plenty of
strengthening to do so we were delighted with her run. She
travelled up near the leaders for most of the race before fading in
the final furlong. She was up against some very expensive rivals in
a race that often throws up very nice horses and Mick Channon and
jockey Sam Hitchcott were delighted with her effort. She is fine
today, ate up her feed, trotted up sound and has been out in the
paddock. Mick expects her to go a lot closer next time and he
has found a race for her on 19th October at Yarmouth, a fillies'
maiden over a mile.
Gary Moore's open day went well today, all
the visitors enjoyed themselves and the horses seemed to enjoy all
the attention!
|
|
Saturday
18th September
We are looking forwards to Gary Moore's
Open Day tomorrow. We now have 8 horses in training with Gary and
we expect many Heart of the South owners to be among the visitors.
Anyone interested in seeing new recruits the STORMING HOME filly or
IL PORTICO will be able to see these horses up close. Both are
expected to have the first races in the Heart of the South colours
in the next couple of weeks.
There will be the opportunity to see
horses on the gallops, schooling displays, a parade of horses and
also a shetland pony race. Admission is £5 (proceeds to Moorcroft
Racehorse Welfare).
|
|
Tuesday 14th
September
ROYAL REASON has been entered at Newbury
on Saturday and is likely to have her first run for us. Our 2 year
old MOTIVATOR filly is a beautiful and classy looking filly and has
been working well on the gallops. However like some other MOTIVATOR
offspring she has more strengthening to do. She is likely to
have a couple of runs this season but will be a much stronger filly
next year.
More details have now been confirmed of IL
PORTICO, our newest horse. Please see the 'shares for sale' page
for further details.

Monday 13th
September
Breaking
News - Heart of the South Racing has a new
horse! IL PORTICO has been running consistently
on the flat and is a winner over a mile and a half for Mick
Channon. This big three year old gelding is now with Gary Moore to
begin a hurdling career. We have done well in the past with horses
recommended to us by Mick, including TOBAGO BAY, KASHMINA and
MOHANAD (all hurdle winners). Champion hurdler KATCHIT also
started out on the flat for Mick - proof that IL PORTICO could be
anything. More details on this exciting new partnership to follow
soon!
|
|
Monday 13th
September
We had hoped SOUTH CAPE would finish a
little closer at Goodwood on Saturday. He wasn't disgraced in 6th,
with some very nice horses ahead of him and a particularly
impressive 3 year old winner who is certain to go on to better
things. Richard Hughes thought that the ground may have been a
little too soft for our horse. SOUTH CAPE is fine after the race
and we will discuss with Gary this week where he would like to go
next.
|
|
Friday 10th
September
What a fantastic performance from MOHANAD
yesterday to finish second in the Jump Jockey's Derby at Epsom!
This horse has finished in the prize money in each of his 12 races
for us on the flat and over hurdles and no horse deserves a win
more - hopefully he wont have to wait much longer for his second
win. Sheena tells us he is fine this morning, his target is a
valuable handicap hurdle at Cheltenham on 16th October or Chepstow
on 23rd then he will have a much deserved holiday.
