As a new venture for HEART OF THE SOUTH RACING we recently launched our first breeding partnership, sending our broodmare AUNT RUBY to legendary sire GREEN DESERT. 

The 27 year old sire of sires GREEN DESERT was reintroduced to the stallion list for 2010 by Darley Stud for his last season covering mares. He was to cover just 30 mares and as a previous customer Heart of the South founder John Penny was offered a nomination for our mare AUNT RUBY.

We are pleased to announce that on 16th February AUNT RUBY gave birth to a big bay colt foal.

Green Desert (right) is the sire of the winners of over 2000 races and well over £37,000,000 in prize money, including CAPE CROSS, OASIS DREAM, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT & DESERT STYLE. He is the grandsire of last year's champion racehorse SEA THE STARS. 

Below are the first photos oF AUNT RUBY's 2011 foal. 

AUNT RUBY suffered some internal bruising after giving birth to such a large foal, so the pair had to stay indoors for the first couple of weeks. 

On 8th March they had their first outing in the paddock (pictures left). Both enjoyed a bit of spring sunshine!

21st March some of his owners visited Foal & proud Mum at the National Stud. They were very pleased with their new Green Desert colt.

Aunt Ruby (USA) is the dam of SOUTH CAPE and RELATIVE ORDER Shergar Juvenile Cup winner, Group placed twice in Hong Kong plus our other winners RUBILINI, EYE FOR THE GIRLS, RED YARN and our unraced 2 year old by IMPERIAL DANCER.

9 time winner SOUTH CAPE is a son of AUNT RUBY and CAPE CROSS (by GREEN DESERT) so we hope this bloodline will produce another very good colt.
