South Cape was bred at our stud in Sussex and was the first foal from our mare Aunt Ruby. He is a winner of 9 races and as well as being a regular at Royal Ascot he has been in the winners enclosure many times including the ROCKINGHAM at York (a listed race). Last year he won for us at Nottingham and Ascot, both races over a mile and has been a revelation at this distance this season. In fact, it was possibly his best season yet because he was also placed at Goodwood twice, Windsor and Ascot. At Ascot in September he finished a head second, beating subsequent Cambridgeshire winner Credit Swap into third. His latest win at Nottingham on 27th October was in a race he won last year, but this year he won off a handicap mark 7lb higher. The horse hasn't really fired so far in 2011 and he is possibly coming towards the end of his career but we would love to see him gain his 10th win. He has dropped down the handicap but he is still working with enthusiasm on the gallops so fingers crossed he will return to form soon!
