SOUTH
CAPE by CAPE CROSS – It
has been a slightly frustrating month for SOUTH CAPE and his
owners. He had his first try over a mile and a quarter at Goodwood
and while he would appear to have the ability to get the trip he is
so used to running over 7 furlongs or a mile that he couldn’t
settle at the slower pace. Back to a mile again at Sandown he got
caught in running and at Goodwood this weekend he got left in the
stalls and was always playing catch up. He came with a real sprint
at the end to get up for third, demonstrating his wellbeing, and we
expect him to add to his 8 wins next time out on either
11th or
12thSeptember. Owner

TOBAGO BAY by TOBOUGG
–
TOBAGO BAY was given a short break recently after disappointing on
his last couple of starts, including on his first outing over
fences. Unfortunately when he came back he was still not quite 100%
and he has now gone back to Framfield for an additional six week
break. Unfortunately horses can’t tell you what is troubling them
and no obvious ailment has been turned up by the vets. We hope that
a few weeks in the paddock will give him a chance to freshen up and
get over whatever is niggling him. We are still confident he can go
on to win more races. Please do come visit your horse while he is
here in Framfield, he certainly loves the attention!

GOODWOOD STARLIGHT by
MTOTO –
GOODWOOD STARLIGHT ran another impressive race to finish fourth at
Newbury in August. He was raised a huge 9lb for his easy July win
at Epsom so it was a great effort to finish in the winners
enclosure again. He has struck up a great relationship with jockey
Robert Lucey-Butler and has got much better at settling in a race,
making life easier for everyone concerned! Sheena West is keen to
try him on the all weather next time and he is likely to head to
Lingfield on 3rdSeptember, possibly followed by a valuable 1mile
4f race at Brighton on 28thSeptember. Owner

OR
JAUNE by GRAND TRESOR – Fontwell Park Racing
– OR
JAUNE is back at Gary Moore’s Horsham yard and he has never looked
better! He did really well over the summer and is positively
glowing with health. Gary expects to have him ready to run in
October when we should have genuine good jumping ground and the
horse is likely to be campaigned over hurdles and fences. We do
have one share available in this 7 time winner, a 10% share is only
£750 and includes an annual season ticket to Fontwell Park (which
is worth over £400!) Owner

INTERAKT
byRAKTI –
INTERAKT was found to be in season after her disappointing run last
time out lacklustre . She is now back to 100% at home and is
entered to run at Epsom this Thursday
2ndSeptember over 7 furlongs. She seems to cope
well with the undulating tracks, she won at Brighton in May, and
ran a great race to finish second on her last visit to Epsom so we
are hopeful of another big run.

RED
YARN by LUCKY STORY –RED
YARN followed her thrilling Lingfield win with an excellent third
at Salisbury in August. She was up in class and it was arguably her
best performance yet because with a bit more luck in running she
would have won. She seems to be overcoming her tendency to hang
right and is developing into a very classy filly - Gary thinks she
could line up for some of the big handicaps next season, possibly
even the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot! She is very well at the
moment but we are waiting for the ground to dry out a bit before
she runs again. Owner

THE
SHUFFLER by RESET – We
expected THE SHUFFLER to win his last race at Epsom but
unfortunately he didn’t seem to like the track and got very
unbalanced on the bend. He had won on the similar track at Brighton
in April but at that point he was rated 12lb lower and was able to
overcome the undulations in a weaker race. Despite this he still
finished third (maintaining his record of finishing in the prize
money every time this season!). He came out of the race in good
shape and will line up at Folkestone on
31stAugust,
up in trip to just under a mile and a quarter.

UN-NAMED
FILLY by STORMING HOME - This big
strong two year old home bred filly is a daughter of 3 time Gr. 1
winner STORMING HOME out of our own mare LUCKY DICE. She is a half
sister to our dual winner THE SHUFFLER and trainer Gary Moore
thinks she has the potential to be even better than her brother!
She is a solid filly and Gary has rightly given her plenty of time
to mature. She is working exceptionally well on the gallops and we
expect her racecourse debut to be this turf season. 5% shares in
this beautiful filly are £850, with monthly training fees at £105.
A stable visit is arranged for this Sunday
5th September at
8.30am should you wish to join
us. Owner hotline press 20 for STORMING HOME

EYE
FOR THE GIRLS by BERTOLINI –
EYE FOR
THE GIRLS ran a fabulous race on
23rd August
at Hamilton to win for the second time, providing Heart of the
South with our first Scottish winner! It was a long way to go but
Mick Channon knew what he was doing, coming home with a double. We
had been concerned that the 5 furlong trip would be too short but
the rain fell heavily and with a great effort EYE FOR THE GIRLS
just got up on the line. He ran another good race to finish fourth
at Bath this weekend and Mick now needs find the perfect race for
the horse to win again. Owner

FRUITY O’ROONEY by KAYAHSI –
FRUITY O’ROONEY is back with Gary Moore at
Cisswood after his summer holiday. Our happy horse is really
enjoying himself as he is gradually upped in work and he looks
fantastic. Because he is such a busy horse he gets himself fit
quickly and Philip Hide who rides him every day says it won’t take
long to get him back to peak fitness. He is likely to start off
over hurdles but will commence novice chasing this season. He is a
great jumper and schooled well over fences at the end of last
season so we have plenty to look forward to!

MOHANAD by INVINCIBLE
SPIRIT–
MOHANAD has had a very busy season running with huge credit in some
high class hurdle races as well as being placed three times on the
flat. He has kept his form well but we want to look after him for
next year and he is approaching the end of his season. His next
outing is likely to be the National Hunt Jockey’s Derby at Epsom on
9th September.
This will be a fun day out and will keep the horse ticking over
nicely for his end of season target of the Silver Trophy handicap
hurdle at Chepstow on 23rd October.

DEUX
ETOILES by MONTJEU – The
latest horse to join the Heart of the South string is an impressive
three year old son of champion racehorse and sire MONTJEU. He is a
huge horse and is strengthening up nicely as Gary prepares him for
a novice hurdling campaign. Trainer Gary Moore bought him from
France for hurdling and ultimately chasing and he is the type of
horse Gary excels with. He is showing a great attitude on the
gallops and is already schooling very well over hurdles. We expect
him to be ready to run in October.

ROYAL
REASON by MOTIVATOR -
Our
two year old filly is likely to make her debut in September,
possibly on 17th or
18th of the
month at Newbury. She is a classy filly who is really pleasing her
trainer Mick Channon in her work but she still has some
strengthening to do. Mick will use her outings this season as an
education and like a lot of the MOTIVATOR offspring ROYAL REASON
will be a stronger horse next year.
